Its GOODBYE PORK PIE, great movie.
1. Hedwig and the Angry Inch. the best in the musical genre followed up by Moulin Rouge, this movie is crazy, sad, funny and beautiful, by Baz Lurhmain sp
2. Romeo & Juliet another Baz Lurhmain film, beautifully fused modern story telling with an ancient story.
3. As Good as it Gets how good is Jack Nicholson in this movie
4. Terminator 2, the best action film in my list
5. Shrek, you can't beat a great kids movie, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers are terrific |

(... in no particular order)
"Airplane" (classic nonsense...)
"Young Frankenstein" (cornier classic nonsense...)
"Forrest Gump" (classic - and even made some sense...)
"The Toxic Avenger" (classic garbage - maybe one of it's sequels was campily trashier...)
"UHF" (Weird Al Yankovitz at his mediocre best - "Kramer" steals the show as Stanley Spudowski...)
honorable mentions: "Hairspray"... "Attack of the Killer Tomatos".... "Blazing Saddles"... "Ghostbusters" ... "Ghost" ... and "Hold that Ghost" (Abbot and Costello)

You win. I scanned this thread to see which would be the first movie mentioned that I have within a hand's reach of the recliner which I haven't yet seen.
The Piano Teacher
(Apart from two posters' recs, I have at least one of everybody's five pics back home. A hell of a lot I have two or three of; a smattering I have four or all of. You Netizenz must be a sedentary mob.) |

| Fist of Legend Jet Li kicking a whole lot of Japanese ass in this one. His best 'realistic' movie, imo. |
this is actually a remake of a bruce lee film called 'fist of fury' - btw, bruce does the job way better
it is actually based on a true story, names, eras, etc escape me now..
and you will actually find most/a lot of jet li's films are based on chinese kung fu master legends..
anyways, for me.... it is always going to be movies based on true stories..
