If you lift a dogs tail and blow into its ass in an attempt to produce a sound similar to blowing into a bottle, the dog will get mad.
Trust me. |

"Smoke 'em if you got 'em"- Every WWII movie ever made

If that offended you, you are going to have a rough time on this board, mate. Be forewarned.

| don't forget, both Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were at one time or another CIA assets), |
This is true, but it was a far different time. In the early 80's, 20 years ago, bin Ladin was a member of the Mujahadeen. The Mujahadeen were a freedom fighting force committed to pushing the Russians out of Afganistan. During this period, bin Ladin was an educated freedom fighter with no foreshadowing of what would become. Later on, after the Russians left, bin Ladin reformed his group into the Taliban and began a system of severe fudamentalism and destruction. Many, many people lost their lives and were tortured under his policies. Futhermore, he was behind more terrorist acts than 9/11. There were the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, and the scuttling of the USS Cole . I think he earned his attention.
Hussein was our ally (not a CIA asset) during our problems with Iran. The enemy of our enemy... And by the way, as a historical note- he was given the keys to the dity of Detroit in the 80's.

| The reality is that Moslems practically INVENTED Western Civilization. It was they who reintroduced the ancient Greeks to Western Europe, gave us Arabic numerals (no zero until the Moslems gave it to us): zero is an Arabic word ("cifr," which also becomes "cipher"), as is algebra. |
The only problem that I have with this is that Western civilization is quite old, going well back into the...I'll say 3000s BCE (this was a tough choice, to start with Sumer or the Middle Kingdom of Egypt.) Islam and the rise of the Islamic state did not begin until the 600's CE. A little late in the game to invent the civilization. This is NOT to say that the Arabs were not crucial, but rather to say that ALL cultures were important in the development of Western Civilization. And, for the hell of it:
Pork
Beef
appetite
Critic
hotel
paper
Can't speak English without French either. English is a mutt language, that's why it's so hard to learn.

And Iraq under Saddam Hussein--let's be provocative here; let's be truthful--was far more progressive than the US has ever been.
Universal health care.
tuition-free schooling at all levels, through doctoral and postdoctoral.
The best utilities and transportation infrastructure in the entire Middle East.
Full equal rights for women.
Funny how it's precisely this kind of PROGRESS toward A DECENT LIFE FOR ALL MANKIND that gets the United States frothing at the mouth and shouting "You Hitler" and threatening to invade. |
Now, I've tried to have a debate with most of what you've said, but this makes me go, HUH? Full equal rights for women- unless they wish to leave their homes without a man, be the 4th wife in a marriage, have no legal rights or representation... Best transportation? Are we not couting the UAE, Israel, Egypt, or Lebanon? A DECENT LIFE FOR ALL MANKIND. Yes, this is the one that gets me. This is the one that caused me to right this incredibly long retort on a feel good thread. Saddam Hussein was called "you Hitler" by the US, because he was in the middle of two genocides. He was gassing Kurds by the hundreds of thousands, and executing the Southern Marsh people as quick as he could. A man in the middle of two seperate ethnic cleansings should not be considered a humanitarian, he should at best be praised for his multitasking abillities while the world stops him. We cannot stand idly by and allow evil to go unthwarted.

| Same darn thing in Venezuela. Chavez is a good man and therefore must be stopped |
The problem with Chavez, other than his human rights abuses, is that he is a dictator in wait. He had already blocked elections, stifled a coup and a referendum. The US is watching, but it is the people of Venezuela who are trying to stop him.
one more, thread of wisdom,
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing- Edmund Burke. |

These are mainly some popular Bengali proverbs:
"A fool will be revealed as soon as he speaks" (Chanakya Pandit)
"A happy man is one who lives at home and who has no debts." (Chanakya Pandit)
"A man without an education is like a flower without a scent."
"Disappointment gives rise to the greatest satisfaction." (Sanskrit proverb)
"Either disciple or son, he should be always chastised. If you pat, then he'll be spoiled. If you chastise him, he'll come out a very nice person." (Chanakya Pandit)
"Even a moment of one's lifetime could not be returned in exchange for millions of dollars. (Chanakya Pandit)
"If a foolish person is given good instructions, he becomes more and more angry." (Chanakya Pandit)
"If one has a wife like a sly fox, he must immediately give up his life at home and go to the forest." (Chanakya Pandit)
"Up to five years, don't chastise, don't take any action. Let him [your son] be free. Whatever he likes, he can do. Then after fifth year, for ten years you must be very strict. Then five years and ten years, fifteen. And when he is sixteen years, treat him like a friend." (Chanakya Pandit) |

| DRUNKEN drivers. When making your way home from a night out, put 'L' ('learner driver') plates on your car to convince patrol-ling police that any careless driving is the result of inexperience rather than drink. How you explain a 3am driving lesson is up to you. |

| AMERICANS. Wipe out the Iraqi insurgency by simply joining their side. With your 'friendly fire', the war should be over in days. |

Demonicat,
I'm a Brit.
Not quite sure where you're coming from with 'Falklands'. We won that war. And frankly, the last thing the world needs is advice about war from a country that spent over a decade trying to beat North Vietnam...and failed.
It was a joke. Get over it! |

Men, no matter how liberal they profess to be, do not enjoy sharing a girl with other men. Here are some dead giveaways that your open-minded bed-buddy may be feeling possessive: spitting on your personal belongings, playfully extinguishing cigars on your arm, walking away with $200 loans.

If you're telling me it will take that to collect my prize of 2 Big Rock Traditional Ales from yingwenlaoshi, I'd rather not. |
