No that an't me. I have a mullet and my cousin looks methed out.

I searched the archives and found your valentine to jacl. All that gay man love inspired him to defend you. Much similar to the spartan way of life.

Tarheel? Now that is the funniest and most un-PC name that I have seen on here to date. No offense, so please don't take it as such. I simply could not resist.

Um..My mom is from North Carolina and a tarheel is not racist. A tarbaby is however very racist.

most common origin of Tarheel:

Quote:
The University not only uses the nickname "Tar Heels," but the entire state does as well. One version of the nickname's origin has the name first being applied to North Carolinians during the Civil War. One record talks of a battle in Virginia, where their supporting column retreated, but North Carolina troops fought alone. The victorious troops were asked in a condescending tone by some Virginians, who had retreated, "Any more tar down in the Old North State, boys?" The response came quickly: "No, not a bit; old Jeff's bought it all up." The Virginians asked: "Is that so? What is he going to do with it?" The reply: "He is going to put it on you'ns heels to make you stick better in the next fight."

Not racist at all. I think you are thinking of the above mentioned tarbaby which has very racist conatations.

And flotsam, that will be enough of your ageist jokes. Don't make me come over there. Some day, you'll be my age, and you won't find it so funny.

Have to find your cane first, grannie. And I done hid your bi-focals.
I saw your photo here, and, frankly, my dear, you're not a good-looking guy already, and chances are you won't age well. My students are convinced that I'm the illegitimate son of Sean Connery. Your picture suggests that you're the *beep* son of Mr Bean. I didn't want it to come to this, but you insulted me. Let's get back on the high road now.

My students tell me I look like Brad Pitt, and isn't 62 the enforced retirement age in Korea?

You know, for a second I thought you were serious. And then I read you refer to this thread as "the high road".

You're a pretty cool sage.
These cheap shots are beneath you. I've read previous posts of yours and found you to be an intelligent and articulate guy. Perhaps you had a bad day. Oh, and while you attempt to deconstruct my 'name', you'll never get close to the source. Enjoy the thunderstorms tonight. I'm hoping for some hail. Cheers.

What the hell?

You got that redneck Tarheel over here trying to ruin my chances with princess, coolsage creating a somehow serious argument from I don't know where(is it an Alzheimers thing? maybe with a dash of Tourette's Lite?), and princess hasn't responded to a single one of the sonnets I've sent her.
How did I get pulled into this wacky thread?

Ahh...the price you pay for celebrity.

It seems you are over-estimating your looks, which is quite common in stuck up spoilt little brats. Of course Koreans say you are attractive, they say that to EVERYONE. I'm thinking that in reality you simply are not that good looking. Korea is very focused on looks, and if you don't make the grade, perhaps you could look at getting work as a nanny?
Really? Koreans say EVERYONE is attractive? No, they don't. At least not the Koreans where I worked last year. I did send my resume AND photo to a school and afew hours later, got a call. But, the director wanted me there in just a few days, so I turned it down. I thought something was fishy.

They do generally say everyone is attractive. Hell, my kids compare me to Beckham. Trust me. I'm no where CLOSE to Beckham.

People really need to think about what they say sometimes before they post. I take it none of you have seen princess in the flesh so you really don't know her whether she is attractive or not.

And even is she isn't good looking, so what? A woman who is a ten is more entitled to a teaching job than a one? Maybe in Korea, but if this is the case, it shouldn't be a reason to diss someone. I highly doubt most of the guys are on here are above average looks, and if you are, its not like you did anything great to be born good looking, its the luck of genetics.

I'm sure some think that they know the score and it's best to be honest, but the tone of the comments were hardly based on compassionate reality, more trying to take someone down to feel better about oneself.

Princess, don't feel goaded by these people to post your picture, they aren't worth the effort. Good luck in your job search.

Perhaps it's the 'princess' moniker that has generated this waste of bandwidth. If I were to call myself 'prince', the implication would be that I'm rather full of myself. Just post that photo, princess, and then we can all shut the hell up and get on with our lives, which are already in progress.

Princess, I've been following your little saga ever since you refused to meet your potential employer on the grounds that you didn't want to travel two hours to do it. If you had paid attention to anything about Korean culture in your three years there, you would have noticed that it's important to develop relationships prior to striking a deal - why do you think they have all those business clubs (besides giving them a chance to grope young girls on the company dime)?

You ignored this and they cut off negotiations - as they well should have (IIRC, you also wanted them to fly you home before your contract began, but I can't be bothered to dig up the thread and confirm this). Now, you've gone from a position of strength (a foreigner in Korea looking for a job) to a position of weakness (just another resume on the Internet from someone in North America). Knowing you, you're probably still acting like you're in a position of strength - you probably want the moon. Guess what? No soup for you! You'll be lucky to get 2.1 with six teaching hours a day.

Reading about your latest difficulties has given me renewed hope that there just might be justice in this world after all.

I NEVER said that I expected my "potential" school to fly me home. My current school did that. Be careful for wishing that bad things wil happen to others. Karma will come home to you. I would never wish bad things on anyone, even someone I don't like, much less, a stranger on an internet forum. Thank you. You are such a nice person. Rolling Eyes

I don't know that too many recruiters look at one's academic record that closely. I don't want to be rude but the reason you can't get a job is probably because of your looks. Some Koreans are very superficial.
I don't think so. I am petite and cute with blue eyes and long, straight sandy blonde hair. My old school asked me to stay a third year, but I said no. Most Koreans say I am pretty and I haven't been called ugly EVER. When I first arrived at my last school, the Korean teachers said I was beautiful, AND I am 106 pounds. The teacher who replaced me when I left was BIG. So, there!!!!!

Princess:

My Lady, you appear to be a wonderful person, a person I'd love to take to a classy cafe for some chit-chat and martinis or margaritas.

I'm in Florida. Where do you live? An airport is ten minutes from my apart-uh. Wanna hook up for some lively, romantic conversation and juicy gossip about some prominent Koreans I know from my Tour-of-Duty over there?

Seriously, take care, Princess, and do not forget that Busan City has a lot of public school employment opportunities. Please think of working there.

By the way, my good buddy, who's Chinese-Canadian, worked in colleges in Guangzhou City, China and for an oil company in the U.A.E.. He's forty six years of age and received several job offers from public schools that are located in Busan. He also received offers of employment from hogwons and public schools in Mokpo City and Incheon City. He works in Busan and I think that you can, too. If you'd like me to send you his e-mail address, just let me know.

Cordially,

R

Well, she'd find the Roch to be more intellectual and more sociable than a mere Maritimer.

Why do you raise this query, New Brunswicker? Just curious, eh.

When are you going to answer my P.M., Canucklehead? Just wonderin,' eh.

I am only kidding around, Tarheel.

Cheers for now, Dude.

What? I see no horror in this, a small invite to a groovy gal.

It is all good, Flotsam.
