Not meaning to get to empirical on ya here, but when was the last time that members of our "white" race were on the receiving end of "shock and awe?"

Ya ever heard of a little town called Dresden?

Yes, and that's my point OTOH. It's been more than half a century. (Not that I would wish for anyone to be on the receiving end of that "shock and awe.")

RSR:

Wasn't your original point that the bombings of Hiroshima should be considered racist, because no one has done that kind of thing to white people in a long time?

I brought up Dresden because that happened a few months before Hiroshima, and was carried out by the same group of people. If the Allies had scrupulously avoided civilian casualties during the war, and then, BANG, just suddenly annihiliated hundreds of thousands of Japanese people, we would probably have to conclude that it was a racist act. However, since the Allies had already been barbecuing civilians all over the place, it could just as easily be argued that the Japanese were getting the same treatment that had been meted out to the white Germans.

The original quote in context...

Is calling me racist the best you can do?

I like your tag line. But, of course, that Justice is 86 years old. I wonder what the judgement will be when the new Chief Justice is predominant. Oh, wait. I already know. He had the exact opposite view when he ruled on that case as an appelate court judge. A sad future for us all, I expect.

uh did I miss something or did you avoid answering him?

Hi OTOH,
I definitely prefer to spend my time playing (practicing, studying) music since I took it up again in Feb. 2005 just before coming to Korea. And I'm sure the quality of my posts demonstrates that. But no, it wasn't that I was trying to posit the idea that the nuclear obliteration of those two Japanese cities was racist. Surely, Dresden also was about as bad as it gets.

My point was that even though overt racist has gone somewhat out of style in recent decades, there seems to be a correlation between skin color and the amount of death visited on the various peoples of the world by the government of my home country. As Buncheon Bum, points out it hasn't been 100% "non-white." There were those in Serbia and Kosovo who suffered from US "shock and awe."

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that the numbers of civilians massacred has some meaning, I'm curious how the numbers of members of my "whitel" race killed by the military of the US since WWII compares with the number of "non-whites" killed. Anyone know?
