| I just want to let everyone know that mikeyboy is not representative of Americans as a whole. Rather, he's a product of too much television and quite possibly bad parenting. Also, as was displayed from one of his quasi-rap posts, he's most likely a pasty-faced cracker who drove to St. Louis once with his parents and has ever since secretly wished he was from 'da hood'. My advice would be to not take anything he has to say seriously as he's certainly suffered from some psychological trauma that's resulted in him being mildly deficient in certain aspects of social behavior and communication. Kind of like Jamie Kennedy without a sense of humor. Anyways, just let him 'give props' to his 'homies' and hopefully we won't have to listen to him anymore. |

i love the look on american faces when i tell em that i don't really care too much about their country. often a kind of crestfallen disbelief.
i find it funny how some yanks will say they're from montana, or springfield, or wherever, instead of the actual nation they're from - like most other people in the world would. or the look when they say "i'm from chicago," and i ask them whether that's in canada or the states.
just teasing, guys. some of my best americans are friends.
also,
why do canadians often think they're so completely different to their southern neighbours? unless u're a french canadian, u guys share the same culture! there's more difference between an aussie and a kiwi, for crying out loud! >_< |

| Your assessment is somewhat inaccurate. But I was successful at what I was trying to accomplish. Who needs YOU? My experiment was a success. Thank you for participating. |

The US does it's own PR. Unfortunately the PR that is done on telly portrays the US as a bunch of obese, McNation, who have nothing better to do than carry round guns and shoot each other. Your president really doesn't help with any positive image of you. That's how it is. If you're going to broadcast you crap all over the world about oversensationalising everything of course it's going to have a negative effect on your image.
I for one am fed up with programme after programme of tedious sameness and dullness. The OnStyle channel on TV here really paints a superficial, cosmetic nation who would shit on their own mother to chase the American Dream. (Is that culture?) You send this crap to other countries what are they supposed to think. These foreign people will probably never visit America, so let's take what we see on TV as a fair representation of you. In the same vain as Americans only having limited knowledge about the outside world because they see it and base their opinion on some TV program. A nation that prides itself on it's stupidity when it comes to any knowledge of anything outside it's shores. That's just dumb. But what are normal people supposed to think. A bombardment of crap results in negative PR for you. Why don't you try and change it? |
Yeah, we're working on that. It's taking a while, so stay tuned. We'll sort it all out eventually.
Now, if Americans had listened to Europeans and others on who to elect for president, we might not be in Iraq right now. Sometimes, it pays to listen to friends.
Currently, the Japanese are big fans of Obama, especially the citizens of Obama, Japan. Hmm...perhaps they're onto something...
The next time an American complains about foreigners telling them who they should or shouldn't vote for, please point out the hypocrisy of that by stating how often Americans tell other countries' citizens whom they should and shouldn't vote for. And then, point out how many times this strategy has backfired (See Palestine).
So if you find our culture confusing, irritating, contradictory, and annoying, then you're well on your way to understanding post 9/11 American culture. And you've have plenty of company with United Statesians (Americans). |

Success on an internet forum? Uh, what exactly were you trying to/did you accomplish, if you don't mind me asking? I missed it...
OHHH, You mean you published your phone number and no one called? That's called SUCCESS? Oh yea, you all see things 'somewhat differently' in Misery. |
