I encounter drunks all the time. One minute they want to buy me a drink the next hit me with very same bottle. You must also have been drunk on Jesus when you wrote the above nonsense so I'll leave it at that. |

fiveagles,
It's clear that your "faith" makes you happy, just as Oscar Wilde said, a drunk may be happier than a sober person, but what does that prove? Still, your answers are typical theological mumbo-jumbo, just words that have no basis in any provable way. Your answer "you have to know god's will" is telling. Are you actually suggesting god "speaks" to you? Or, is it a "feeling" that you get? Whatever the case, your "faith" is based on a book compiled and partially written 400 YEARS after the death of Jesus, by people who never met him, who learned the stories from dozens of generations who never met him, through oral tradition, while the oversear of the compilation was a Pagan (Constantine) who was only interested in creating a peaceful state (the meek shall inherit the earth? yeah right). It would be as if we decided in 2008 to finally getting around to writing down stories that were passed down from our great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfathers at the time of Columbus!
and to claim that they are, basically, the word of god, but, meanwhile, we will take 10 or 12 submissions, then choose 4 as "the best word of god", and then we will translate it several times, so the meaning will change, and we will expect people to take what is in that book as holy, and not the work of men who are trying to further their own agenda. We will also openly and verifiably steal ideas and themes from other religions/beliefs so as to more easily win converts to our cause, including the most important symbols, the resurrection, the virginal mother, etc.
Meanwhile, the original inspiration for all this, a man named Jesus, will have made no effort to write anything down himself or have his followers write anything down, and if he did, they did not follow his wishes. Nevertheless, the global power 400 HUNDRED years later, still the Romans, will adopt his "likeness" the same way Santa Claus is used to sell Coca-Cola, and adults will believe in a make-believe man the same way that young children believe in Santa.
And of course, you worship three gods, not one, a "holy trinity" of the father, the son, and the holy ghost. That is, if you are Roman Catholic. If you're not, then you belong to a further dilution of the creators of the Bible, more people pretending to know the will of god, and furthering their own power all the while.
If you knew nothing of religion and someone came up to you and tried to sell this to you, any sane person would think the other crazy. But whatever makes you happy, right? Some people use weed, some people do marathons, some people believe in fairy tales. |
