If I manage to land a good job with some vacation time, I'd be up for it in the next year or two. Four months in Uzbekistan and I only saw the Registan in passing and never made it to Bukhara. |

It's odd now, but before the TRAVEL FORUM existed (part of Jack the Cat's work), travel was separated into the FAQ Forum when they created various different forums.
Strange now as this system has been here so long, but once upon a time, there was actually controversy about even having separate forums (if I recall Dave's Ancient History correctly). When the first separation of forums occurred, a Travel Forum wasn't one of them. |

I realise this is a DAMN old thread... anyone who's got specific questions about UZ or central asia pm me, and I'll answer as best I can. I've been through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. Started in seoul, went via Beijing, Mongolia, and Russia... and came back to Seoul. |

Which country did you enjoy the most? How as Uzbekistan in particular? |

The bigger question is "What happened to Zed?" I met him on Geoje Island back in 2004 for a late night of beers and b.s. and he disappeared thereafter, said he was going to Cuba for a holiday and never heard from him again.
A good ol' poster went AWOL. |

He's in Saigon now. I'm still in contact with my old ex co-worker
I haven't seen him post here in ages either. |

If you have questions about travel through Kyrgyzstan (did Peace Corps there) or Uzbekistan (wife is from Samarquand and I have spent significant time there) just send me a PM...though Uzbek visas are hard to come by these days. |
