BTW, what are some good Canadian beers? Please don't say Moosehead or LaBatts!

Canada has the same mix of crappy macrobrew (although I'd say they're better than America's offerings) and amazing microbrews that the USA has.

Microbrews tend to be most famous in the region they're produced so it's hard to real off a bunch of top Canadian brews you'd have heard of, just as why many Canadians (and even Americans) haven't heard of a lot of the fantastic beer Americans make.

Sleemens is an excellent Canadian beer (recently bought by Sapparo) that is available across the country. Rickard's used to be wonderful until Molson bought it (same folks who merged with Coors).

It's just sad that Moosehead is all you can seem to find in Korea (other than the odd place that has Alley Kat on tap). It's really just about as average as beer gets (although it tastes marvelous compared to the Korean beers).

If you want some great Canadian beer on tap you can always go to Big Rock in Gangnam - gets my vote as the best beer on tap anywhere in Seoul! Thankfully for me I can walk there Smile

Only a few weeks until back home and I get to once again quaff these nectars:

Magic Hat Number 9
Bell's Hopslam
Bell's Two-Hearted
Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
Cider
Pacifico
Mackeson's
Rogue
Third Coast
Bulleit Bourbon
Ten High
Rebel Yell
Lowenbrau
Martell
Vernor's
IBC

Who am I kidding? It's going to be 5-0 and Jiffy Wine.

Yeah, Cafri is popular with some of my friends. I do think it's the Corona image. I think it's pretty awful personally.

Funny you should say that. I always that that was what Corona was all about. IMAGE. The Corona marketing people should get paid extra, because the beer is not at all exceptional, at least not enough to command the top notch import prices that it does.

Any beer that needs a lemon slice to make it more drinkable needs to hang its beer head in shame.

+1

Corona is all about the image. It's ok beer. But it really does need that slice of lime.

BTW - Crystal weizen is always served with a lemon slice in Germany. There is no shame there.

there is plenty of shit beer in Canada though. Ever tasted the delights of Lucky Lager? How about TNT? or perhaps some Wildcat? Now that is the essence of cheap shit.
