I don't get pissed off if K-pop comes on the radio. Sometimes I get happy. I always get pissed off when some trashy American R&B pop crap comes on.
"Nobody" by Wonder Girls should have won a Grammy. If Beyonce's stupid-ass song won a Grammy, why can't a song that's much better win a Grammy? It's because everybody loves to look down on K-pop, because they're so insecure about American pop. Western pop is so bad these days that it hurts. |

There are K-pop songs that people will still be listening to in 20 years. "Nobody", "Saturday Night", "Gee" to name a few.
I like a bit of K-pop and guess what, I can kick some ass. Tell me that Lady Gaga, that hoe, is any better than Son Dambi. Tell me that Pussycat Dolls are better than SNSD, with a straight face. You can't, because they're not. Face it, K-pop does it better than its American counterparts.
Anyway, this thread is about hot girls in K-pop, not snarky hipsters making fun of people because they aren't talking about some gay indie rock band that 5000 people know about.
The princess canopy bed comment was funny though, I got a kick out of that one. |
Isn't a big part of the pop scene the dancing, the act? None of the Korean gals I have seen come even close to Beyonce, Britney Spears, or *beep* Cat Dolls in terms of dancing. And they would probably be the first to admit it. Some of these girls bands dancing on TV on Sundays are so terribly bad. They have no business dancing on tv. Of course Asia is the "continent that rhythm forgot." |
B2ST, G-Dragon, and Rain can dance.

| Saying k-pop is the best of all pop music is like saying that the peanut is the tastiest part of poop. |

I've never tried poop, but if I did and there were in fact a peanut in there, I'd bet it would be the tastiest part. That or the corn. |

I'm gonna have to disagree with you...
Kpop is nowhere near as good as Beyonce, Gaga, Usher, Bieber etc. The best of American pop is WAY better than K-pop. I'm sure most K-poppers would agree. Afterall, they're just copying American stuff anyway.
However, I will give you that there is a tonne or wretched American pop out there that K-pop is more enjoyable than.... Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Nelly, Taylor Swift, bunch of other RnB crap.
It's kinda like the hotness of women... The best of American women (Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel) are about 1000 times hotter than the hottest Koreans. However, there seems to be a greater number of Koreans than Americans who could pass for hot. Just not as hot as the hottest Americans.
"'Nobody' could have won a Grammy"??? C'mon. Drop the crackpipe buddy. K-pop is fine for mindless entertainment and to bring a quick smile to your face, but it's not worthy of any kind of accolades. |

So, when I get back to Korea can you hook me up with your supplier? You must be smoking some good s*&t.
A mediocre song by Big Bang is better than any of those and I don't even like Big Bang. Usher had okay songs many years ago. I don't think that K-pop rips off American pop. They get influenced by rap, '80's pop and trot music and they make their own version of pop which, on average, is better than anything that America has put out this decade.
I reiterate, Wonder Girls should have gotten a Grammy, because the English version of 'Nobody' was the best song made in America in 2009 that I've heard.

Now I'm starting to fear for your safety. If you get caught with that PCP in your system, you'll get sent away for a long time.
Scarlet Johannson and Jessica Biel hotter than the hottest Korean woman?! I wouldn't choose them over the hottest woman at E-Mart, let alone the hottest women in K-pop. I know many girls hotter than all three of them.
Jessica Alba has her moments, but realistically she's an 8/10. She can be a 9 when she tries.
The hottest women in the world are in East Asia, parts of the Middle East, parts of Europe and parts of Latin America. |

Yeah a lot of the bands are Pastel music artists. I'd call them Indie-pop or Folk-pop or Estro-pop or Coffee-pop.
Casker, Humming Urban Stereo, Yozoh, The Melody all are great. I'd add in Fannie Fink and Lucite Tokki as great.
Also try Fluxus Music, I think that's Winterplay's, Clazziquai's, and W&Whale's label.
A lot of artists on the indie labels will do multiple tracks in English (often very good English) and even do their title song in English.
Whale & Winterplay's vocalist are two gorgeous women in my back, and much better than the plasticky Jessica types. |

The next time you and your friends get together to discuss bubble gum pop music, Power Rangers, the new Curious George movie and other things meant for 11 year olds, give me a shout. Sounds like fun. |

Why do you think that because someone likes light music that means they are shallow or can't discuss things seriously?
Is it so hard to believe that someone can listen to K-Pop while looking at the works of Morisot or reading up on the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse?
So what do you sit around the fireplace and talk about? What kind of music do you listen to?
You call K-Pop shallow and superficial, but here you are judging people based on what music they listen to (like an 11 year old) thinking that because someone listens to a certain kind of music they have certain interests (like an 11 year-old), and proceed to try and insult people based on the music they listen to (like an 11 year old). Yeah, if anyone belongs at the Curious George screening, its you. |

I kinda wanted to argue with you a bit, but now I realize you're just putting me on.
I'll say it again: I have no problem with people saying they don't mind k-pop and that they find it catchy... but to say it it better than anything is just wrong. And worthy of any kind of award... that's just so stupid there's no way you can be serious.
The only American music that K-pop is on the same level as is the following...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsLu9Bent0E
Again, don't get me wrong... If people are into pop, that's fine. I like pop too. |
