I think people are being a bit hard on the OP. Booking was a shock to me as a guy the first time I saw it, so of course it's even more shocking if you're a girl and have no idea what it is.

Only one thing looks off: OP, you say you'd been to booking clubs before but with husband so didn't experience it for yourself? Well, didn't you notice other girls being dragged around by staff?!

Yeah, but we had been dragged to our table, dragged to the bathroom, dragged to the bag-check counter. . . it was like the waiters assumed you couldn't see (it's rather dark) so they dragged you everywhere. It's why we didn't freak out at the dragging so much, but at the destinations. Ugh, how bloody embarrassing.

It sounds like the Miari red light district, only there it's adjummas aggressively dragging men toward rooms with women. Laughing

I'm not that bothered if you're a jerk or not. Tons of people are on here. But I'm tired of seeing people read the first post and frantically typing out some inane post when the "big issue" has already been resolved. RTFM.

But IT'S SO FUN!

if you are in a club, especially a booking club, do you really think "flashing a wedding ring" would stop most guys? this is korea, not church camp.

Yes this is Korea and that is exactly why it would work 99 times out of a hundred.
Adultery is a crime here punishable by up to two years in jail.

Not to derail the thread, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I had the impression that this is a law that is on the books but is very seldom prosecuted.

Correct. Urban Myth must look at the thousands of Love Hotels in every -gu in Korea and believe married couples are in there!!

Laughing

Are you really that slow or are you just taking the mickey? The people that go to those hotels are CONSENTING...NOT FLASHING A WEDDING RING AND SAYING "I'M MARRIED!"

In other words they want to go there. Flashing a wedding ring and saying no I'm married is the exact opposite.

She said she had been going with her husband in a big group before this particular incident. .

And she didn't bother looking around or wondering why girls were being 'dragged' over to a guy's table?

Surely it wouldn't take multiple times to figure out that this isn't your average dance club...?

She also said that she was dragged to the bathroom and coat check as well, so she hadn't realized that the other girls weren't being dragged to the same places. It was when she was brought to the "murder room" that she realized that things were different.

Seriously? You're going to attempt to join in with this particular branch of the discussion and run with that angle? Fair enough, run with it. I'm not sure what you would be attempting to prove by this but yeah, have a go.

Not attempting to prove anything. Seems like a fair question to ask.

All I said was that it should be fairly obvious from multiple visits that something was going on that didn't occur at her visits to other dance clubs.

Not being slow here......but you are being condescending and pompous again....Try to reign in your superiority complex, please. It's really unpleasant.

You brought in the adultery law. Like it has any effect on the countless affairs and sleeping around that goes on between married people in Korea. So a bit of naivety on your part for thinking that Koreans would be deterred by that law from entering into an affair with a married person.

In a real world situation, the girl in question in the booking club might well flash the ring and say she's married, to which the ajeossi chatting her up might just say, 'so what?!! I sleep with married women all the time!!'

Been out in the real world much TUM?

Before attacking others for being "pompous and condescending" I suggest you look at your own behaviour. I was quite civil until YOUR snarky remark about what I think when I look at the thousands of love hotels.

If you can't handle the heat, don't START a fire.

Now let's look at the context. Someone flashing a wedding ring is obviously NOT interested in sleeping with said "ajeossi". In which case she simply says "Sorry I'm married, bye." Besides which it is as likely for him to say "okay, next!"

This sounds like a scary experience to me. I hope you've recovered. Like others have said, and I'm sure you've decided yourself, I would avoid this type of club.

How does your husband feel about this incident? Did he want to push his way back into the club and have a few "words" with the staff?

probably not if he's aware that this was a booking club and nothing out of the ordinary/expected happened Rolling Eyes

reminds me of the picki boys (with walky talkys) grabbing all the pretty young ladies as they enter the walking street in Hongdae (like a feeding frenzy); I guess they are working on a commission.......)

Where exactly are all of the booking clubs that foreigners can go to?

I've tried to go to a couple of them, but they refused to let me in cuz I'm white....

I've heard of ones in Gangnam, but have no idea where they are??? (Specifically)
