Actually, those messages are spam bots that attack boards. I once got one so it clearly isn't the KoreaLoverSentry folks. Unless they consider me too 'Moderate' in my views....Maybe an AINO.

I did a Google search, I've seen those messages hit boards with completely random topics like cars or fansites dedicated to romance novels or some such.

False accusations suck. Be sure to vet things first.

It's not. My old account here was hit 3 years after my last post with it. But if it helps you reinforce stereotypes, go for gold.

Whatever it was in your mind that made you conclude that it was moondoggy and not any of the other users on Dave's.

It all fits into a larger cultural picture. If the piles of litter were an anomaly in Korea Captain 'K' would have a point. But it fits into a larger pattern of lawnessness. Cars parked on crosswalks, spitting, running red lights, cutting in line, ignoring contracts, slamming doors, eating loudly with ones mouth open, stomping on the ceiling at 3am, public drunkenness, motorcycles on the crosswalk.

His friends undoubtedly engage in most of these activities too, yet we're supposed to believe they are bothered by the garbage. It's all part of the same phenomenon. And if he thinks his friends don't contribute to the piles of garbage everywhere, then maybe it really is aliens doing it.

Do ppl in korea do the above? Yup. Do all Koreans do it? Nope. You've obviously got serious issues with this place - you jump from littering, to lawlessness... to... eating with your mouth open?? Seriously?

And now you're here telling me what my friends do. Nice. Must be a fine thing to be as omnipotent as you are.

My correlation with what I said is the fact that I've never gotten one of these until I said something about Japan and Korea in this thread. The minute I compared Japan and Korea on something and said Japan was better, I received one of those spam messages. That isn't random and furthermore, those messages could be generic messages copied by someone on this board.

It may not be true that someone here used a bot to send the message, but it wasn't completely out in left field to come to that conclusion. If I received one and le-paul received one after posting in this thread, I wouldn't call that random.

my thoughts too, Holmes.

btw transmogrifried, my shrink? youre being a bit random with your sloppy words and phrases. Sorry, i just cant keep up with you. Its go 'and' analyze yourself.

A stereotype is an oversimplification of something. The fact that i have observed with my own eyes that i only recieve those 'apparent spams' when i say something against korea or in defence of japan, has lead me to conclude that it isnt random at all. Scientists use a method that encompasses observation, testing, prediction and conclusion. I predicted that he would do something like that because he seems unstable. So, i tested my theory by provoking him and the conclusion was that 3 minutes later, i received two spam. It could have been him, it could be someone else. That isnt an oversimplification at all is it?

Whats to stop someone setting up an account, cutting a spam i recieved and then pasting it into an outgoing message?

They say patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

Well, complaining about syntax and vocabulary choice on a messageboard must run that pretty close.

Well, let me tell you about the time I received such a spam PM on my account- First, I thought I must have ticked off another user. Some basher probably had had it with me. Then, I noticed that it was rather unspecific in its attacks. In fact, it was so unspecific it came across as generic. I copied and pasted the text into a search. Lo and behold I found out that the same message had been sent to users on other forum boards that covered a diverse array of topics. Still, it might have been somewhat directed me.

However, I was not the only person to receive such a message. Other posters started threads about receiving such messages. They ranged across the apologist-basher spectrum and even included folks who stick to the travel or buy and sell forums, as well as lurkers/near-inactive accounts. Obviously, this was not directed at anyone in particular.

Since then, from time to time, this spam bot has struck, again targeting accounts at random. Some people get them, some don't. There was another thread about it that started just this past week, again targeting users at random.

Rather than jumping to conclusions, assuming the worst possible explanation, failing to investigate, and ignoring possible alternative explanations, I made sure to determine what truly was going on. Probably this part of my personality is why I'm an apologist, and frankly I'm not surprised that bashers fail to engage in such things as above and stick to their initial worst possible outcome suspicion and confuse correlation with causation.

Now, that's not to say that it absolutely WASN'T moondoggy, it's just that the odds are far lower that it was.

Then how come users who have seemingly no connection to Moondoggy have been recently receiving those messages as well? Is this all part of his master plan?

You could post the account name and see if any other posters have received such messages.

Or maybe this is the result of a website using 10 year old software existing on the internet.

On the other hand, you could also believe that the President of Nigeria really DOES need your help and has personally emailed you. After all, in Itaewon you met a Nigerian guy. A day later you get an email from the President of Nigeria. That's not random!

Your 'science' needs a little work. That's like saying "Gatorade makes people shoot better free throws. I once made a free throw after drinking Gatorade. I predicted that if I drank Gatorade before I shot a free throw, I would make a free throw. I did it again and made two more, therefore Gatorade helps people make free throws." That's not observed and tested science. That's coincidence.

Furthermore, in any experiment, you must have a control established in order to prove your theory. Have other posters who have posted something about Japan received the same messages? Have others who have argued with Moondoggy received the same messages? Have others who don't argue with Moondoggy received the same messages? Have posters who have no idea who Moondoggy even is or even participate in these discussions received such messages? The control group is the most critical part of an experiment. Don't you remember that? Where was your control?

And even if the messages are directly a cause of the opinions you post, how can you conclude that it was moondoggy who wrote them? Couldn't it possibly have been another user/lurker who objected to your statements and then sent the messages? Did you even think of that possibility before you accused the guy?

The point is that accusing someone of such things is a pretty serious matter in the world of Dave's and you better have some pretty good evidence to back it up. Yours is circumstantial at best.

Go back to Scientific Method and Investigation 101. Lighten up on the critical, focus more on the thinking.

honestly, steel rails? do you have a life? hobbies? i think its quite pathetic how you have so much time to sit and nit pick what people say and do on here. its also quite sad and pathetic how you have so much time to spare, to dedicate yourself to these long winded explanations of everything. you even sit and write these 'pseudo essays' on a weekend.

you also need to learn something in life 'its ok if you dont have an opinion on every subject'. Really, if youve got nothing of interest to say, just dont say anything!

really man, my personal advice to you, get a girlfriend, start hiking, go to the gym or something.

Your life must be empty if its full of daves threads.

im going rock climbing now for an hour, ill check in at your retort when i get to school this afternoon.

think about what i said.

My favorite is when I'm walking past a pile of garbage, and the ajoshie ahead of me abruptly stops to empty his nostrils on top of it. Confused
A little present for whoever has to eventually come along and pick up those bags.

Dude, check when I post. I usually post in the morning when I wake up, to get my brain going, whenever I'm in front of my comp at school from 9-5, and then before I go to bed. Occasionally a Drunk-30 post when I stumble home. And I can think, type, and write at a rather rapid rate. Those "long-winded posts" take me about under 5 minutes to bang out. I love arguing on here because it exercises the little grey cells and keeps the ol Mother Tongue sharp amidst a sea of Kjibberish.

Dude, check my post rate from 5PM-11PM on the weekdays and till 2AM on the weekends. I'm a bonafide alcoholic, I have no time for Dave's to get in the way of my boozing and partying. And I also play sports, go riding, archery, and get into stupid relationships that I regret 6 months later. Go take your assumptions and climb that rock face. What have I got to prove beyond I know how to have fun time, love booze, make terrible decisions when it comes to women, and I love a good argument on Dave's?

Go back to Freshman year of college where people were so obsessed over the crap you post. I don't care if someone is a quiet stay at home type or a social butterfly, it's the content of the post that matters. The fact that you are going after my personal character and not the facts of the issue at hand suggest that you know you are losing the argument.
