First of all, screen shots mean nothing. You can take the code, change a few things, and then open it up again and take screen shots. Now, for all of you who think posting it is smart. It's not. Posting things without any significant proof about people we don't know by people we don't know will only ever start a witch hunt. That is why it is not done in the real world. When too much information is leaked before a trial, it is really hard to find jurors because they have already made up their mind. It should ABSOLUTELY only stay with the mods (hence police) until things have been sorted out and proven one way or the other. Then, if proven to be true, post what the person had done and let others know. AFTER HE/SHE HAS BEEN PROVEN TO HAVE DONE WHATEVER. Imagine what lawyers would do if you published evidence before a trial in a newspaper!!! |
That's the way things should work, but in this case the mods were going to ignore the complaint until they were pressured to investigate. Personally, I'm glad to know the depths people can sink to at this site and receive only a slap on the wrist in response. I've never been a big fan of Yata-Boy's, but I completely agree with his earlier statement that the Holocaust PM was hate speech. I also agree that people who abuse the PM function don't deserve privacy. |
Once again, Red Dog is so far off base it's not even funny. Even in the thread we are talking about she managed to twist my words around when I was giving an example about something and then jokingly apologized for using flotsam in my example. Then, I corrected her and she stated that I should repremand floatsam (although she never made it clear what for).
Although I won't post the pm, Red Dog also implied that my behavior was equivalent to condoning the Holocaust. After that I asked her polietly not pm me and can anyone guess what she did next?
Yeah, she sent me another pm.
Back on the topic of pm's, no there isn't any rule against posting them and I don't think there needs to be (it's done very rarely). Yes, I did look at Hack's account after he suggested it, but generally there is nothing we can do. Looking at someone else's account is not something I make a habit of doing. I tend to agree with Laogaiguk, it's in poor taste to post something like that and I said so in the thread. But yet again, that's just my personal opinion. |
Well, if I'm not allowed to PM you, I guess I'll have to respond here. You're an immature, childish, passive-aggressive person and you've shown very poor judgment in this matter -- and in the way you've handled several other problems here on Dave's. The fact that you're flaming me like this shows what kind of "moderator" you are, and I think the people whose opinions matter will see that -- even if you do have a gang of cyber-bullies on your side right now.
You are the one who is twisting my words around. I never said you condoned the Holocaust. I said you didn't take the Spinoza incident seriously, and I won't take that back. At one point you denied that Spinoza had taunted a Jewish poster about the Holocaust, when that clearly is exactly what he did.
Previously, when I reported some offensive PMs to you (although they didn't concern the Holocaust or involve race-baiting), you said there was nothing that could be done because there was no way to verify the content of a PM. I was quite shocked when you told Hack (or is it Huck?) essentially the same thing! What you posted in that thread certainly made it sound as if you intended to ignore the problem.
About the Flotsam thing, I don't know why you keep reiterating your total misinterpretation of a casual remark I made in response to your post. I know you were just using Flotsam as an example. I said I didn't think you should apologize for doing so ... the point being that he's not a nice person and is fair game for that sort of thing. It was just an offhand remark not related to my main point, and I was posting from work and didn't have time to write an essay explaining it. I explained it in a PM because I didn't appreciate being accused of consistently misreading things. You're the one who does that, not me.
Really, I think you're just diverting attention from the real issue with an unjustified attack on me. Flotsam was a side issue ... my main concern was that Dave's has become a free-for-all and you don't seem to care. |
I'm childish...I think you should look in the mirror. And no I'm not flaming you, I'm responding to the attack you made stating I laughed off the post and was "pressured in to doing something."
If you didn't post that, then please correct me.
And while were on the subject of your pm's, let's talk about how many times you've complained about someone via either pm or a post report stating someone was attacking you. You can flame people all you want, but when they flame you back, you run to the mods.
I did ask you to stop pm'ing me and yet you still did. Other people have asked you to stop pm'ing them and you refused. That constitutes harrassment in itself.
