You have yet to provide unassailible logic that would allow a reasonable person to believe that evolution is a religion.
You've said it enough times; just not provided any significant justification.
Faith need not run absolutely contrary to the evidence provided you know. Perhaps a nonliteral understanding of the applicable verses would open things up for you. |

It's not a religion. Stop lying.

Being questioned and tested is part of the process. But there's plenty of evidence. Stop lying.

No you don't. You accept evolution based on the evidence that supports the theory. If the theory gets disproven, it loses the support. Stop lying.

Oh, stop lying. |

[SIGH] Ok, I'll play. It is a religion. Show me proof of the THEORY of evolution's claim as to the origins of life. Quit whining.

There is evidence that microevolution occurs, I agree. But, nothing on the grand morphing of one species into another (no matter how many billions of years you want to claim). Quit whining.

Fair enough. But, YOU accept evolution based on someone's INTERPRETATION of the evidence that seems to support the theory. Quit whining.

Oh, quit throwing your religion in my face. |

If something offering an explanation about the origins of life is your definition of religion, then clearly evolution is not a religion. The proof is in your own criterion: evolution is not a theory about the origin of life. It takes life as a given in the same way chemistry takes atoms as a given. Evolution is a theory about the origin of species from simpler forms of life. That's all. I'm not sure why you would make such a basic, basic, basic error. Read much?

Sure we've never seen one species turn into another radically different species in the 100 years the theory of evolution has been around. But so what? Evolution doesn't claim such a thing happens over such a short period of time, any more so than geology claims running water carves canyons in your life time or certain features are the result of glaciation. We have no smoking gun video of an asteroid hitting earth and killing the dinosaurs. These theories have all been established via multiple lines of evidence that are debated, tested, and picked apart by the scientific community. When all other reasonable explanations are wont for evidence, one concludes the theory on the table is probably the most likely explanation. We don't have to see black holes to infer they exist.
Anyway, there is loads and loads and loads and loads of evidence for evolution. You're free to simply wave your hands and deny it and send your kids to whatever school won't teach it. But at the university level, where people do real research, evolution isn't some "religion" that's waved away. It's the core of biology. It's the core because the evidence so strongly supports it.

So what? It's not merely "someone's", either. It's the vast majority of biologists. |
