Why shave the cats?
I'll admit, it looks pretty hilarious, but is there another reason?

well Chitchy had big matted lumps in his fur, so he got taken to the vet to get those shaved (shorn?) out. and the vet just kept on shaving and shaving. Turned out to be a blessing though, poor Chitchy was very uncomfortable in the heat, AND, he no longer leaves cat hair everywhere. but yes, we didnt expect him to look like that when we picked him up from the vet.

She IS cute! Where did you get her? I didn't know ferrets can be such a wonderful pet. Well, even though that one looks like a trouble-maker.

Thanks! Ferrets are GREAT pets. They actually sleep about 17 hours a day, but when they are awake they need a lot of attention and playtime. Many people get ferrets without realizing the amount of personal attention they need and this is sad as ferrets can get depressed without enough stimulation. Calamity is like a cat, but we can have her in her cage when we leave or go out, she has a hammock that we hang in her cage and she sleeps there. She is potty trained in the cage and has a litter box. They can be trained to use a litterbox outside a cage, but Calamity is a little stubborn. She goes next to the litterbox. She eats cat food. She loves to play in bags, boxes, loves to hide stuff and drag things off. I have to keep a close eye on my ipod, it has that streachy cover that she just loves. She is affectionate, she comes up and kisses my toes when I get home and will cuddle when she is done playing.

I am not sure what I am doing with her when I leave. I want to bring her home but we live in California, where ferrets are illegal. This doesn' t mean I can't have her there, many people have ferrets there, but I can't fly her directly into the airport, I would have to fly into Nevada and drive. But, if I do have to leave her here, I know I will find a good home for her and honestly she will have had a better life then she would have if she had been adopted by a Korean or who knows who else. Most people do not know how to care for ferrets, or understand their unique needs. When I got her she was in a small dirty cage with 4 other ferrets. Now she has the run of the house and lives like a queen!

me, too. I could tell Toto was pretty hot and she also had lots of matted fur. She looks really funny now, but she's never been happier. She plays more and is way happier and more active. The vet said it'll grow back pretty fast.

I love animals, but I just couldn't stand the smell of having them indoors in Korea. I grew up woth animals OUTSIDE the house. And ferrets? They are so cute, but the smell is awful. I knew some people who had ferrtes and their place smelled like a skunk. Ferrets get into everything and they got in these people's closets, so their clothes smelled skunky. Not my cup of tea. Animals belong outside.

Perhaps the people you were associating with had poor housekeeping skills? Not all homes with animals stink. Some homes without animals stink. It all depends upon the people to maintain things.

Seeing those way-to-cute pics make me miss my ferret Crying or Very sad She died when I was in college. They really are the perfect pets. Cute, intelligent, and curious like cats, but without the massive shedding and clawing (not to mention the fact than I'm allergic to cats). They also seem to be alot less "clingy" than dogs. Its to bad so many people get them thinking they can be locked and ignored all day like a hamster. So sad.

The dark one is Oddball. I got her a month into my contract. The little orange one is Fiddlesticks I got him in May to keep Oddball company while I was at work and because she needed the company. She is much more relaxed now that she isn't home alone for 8 hours a day. Fiddles is a little wild but his big sister has learned to love him.

Wanna know something scary? One of the first vets in our neighbourhood we tried, they told us we needed to book haircuts for our cat. Haircuts! Why would a cat ever need a haircut? We quickly found another better vet.

I think I see the face of Satan in the folds of his skin!

Great cat pics, R.T.! The third one being my favorite.

I had a few kittens myself I found abandoned like your orange one at a bus stop and had to hand feed'em for a few weeks. Sadly, I had to give'em to a Korean family due to allergies. Man, they were great and loving cats....

Still look'n for a ferret tho' <-(I know the grammar police are out and about and wanna tease'em!)
