I hope St. Andrews reads this. If they refuse to pay all that is owed to you, three words:

LIENS! LIENS! LIENS!

His Chairman, his hagwon computers, his wife's furs, etc. Bye-bye!

If they don't know that word they should translate it.

Sometimes people will not comply until a judge has to pick his pocket and he has to sit there and take it like a man.

Having Liens? Isn't that considered "shameful" in Korea?

"Shameful" is losing face by having to pay righteously. If he ain't gonna pay, he's gotta be poked until he bleeds the money.

Dam, this thing has gone on so long. How can these clowns just refuse?

Well done and stick to your guns Ian.

Anyone else who works for St Andrews needs their head checked.

I guess some are so desperate for money they'd do almost anything.

From what I've heard, liens is the next way to go. Or something. I would never let it get this far. I would've been off with some cash and that'd be the end of it. While I was working there.

Nice try though. I'm sure he'll get cash. It's just that I'd want cash now.

I think one big problem is hagwons where there are multiple foreign teachers. You're dispensible.

I totally agree with the point mentioned about native English teachers being dispensible. Can't believe that the school doesn't see the truth in the matter. If they don't pay, they will be closed. If they pay, they will lose the fight. If this was the US or the UK, the courts would have ordered payment rightaway, and for non-payment within 5 working days closure of business and liquidation of assets.

Good luck ian, no matter the school is screwed and they know it.

I worked for a guy back in New Brunswick. He never paid OT. But he always paid on time. He never gave me a raise. I asked for too much, maybe. Anyway, I gave myself a raise because I ran the cash. Don't know how much I took from him, but I save all my pay stubs which showed my hours, went to labor (after I quit) to get my money. He settled with me.

Took maybe a week.

Things are fkered here.

Part of me though thinks that some teachers aren't that good to keep. Not that that's a good excuse to screw them out of money. Of course. Hey, if you wanna do less and get paid, all the power to you. I'm like that although I do a good job.

There's something to be said about being a valuable asset they couldn't lose. And there's something to be said about giving them the old 'wht the fk do you think you're doin' deal.

Although I can not definitely say, ianinisan was probably a shat teacher and didn't have that going for him to get his cash and was treated badly.

I suspect the dirctor is a nutjob/fruitcake. It's impossible to understand someone like that or reason with them.

Why should this have to come down to liens? It's ridiculous that the St Andrews owner won't just pay the money and allow everyone to move on with their life.

Come to think of it, this hagwon tried to recruit me back in August of 2006. Glad I didn't end up with them!!

Instead I did end up with other hagwon owners who were controlling and tried to cheat me outta money. So, same thing.
