Speaking of paranoid ...
Do you know the word's actual meaning?
Para-NOUS ... |

Yes I do.
Thankfully from an outsider's view of it. |

| Isn't paranoia just a conspiracy fabricated by the medical/pharmaceutical industry? |

Well, as well all know, they certainly profit from drugging "paranoids".
Fewer paranoids = less profit
In the original Greek, παράνοια (paranoia) simply means (para = outside; nous = mind)
e.g. He was "beside himself" ...
In Sanskrit the prefix PARA ( e.g. PARA-mita ) refers to a sense of having gone beyond, of having "crossed the threshold" of ... something.
Truth be told, this has quite a positive spiritual meaning.
Then there's words like PARA-dox, PARA-llel, PARA-digm etc
Just because one is paranoid doesn't mean they are wrong, or don't have good reason for being so.
Perhaps too many of us are lulled into a false sense of security.

Does the word "paranoid" have an antonym? In other words, can there be a one-word opposite of paranoid?
My guess is no since it's a "defined clinical state"; however since it's used casually, has an antonym evolved? |
This reminds me, is anyone familiar with PLATO's Allegory Of the Cave?

Paranoia is merely wishful thinking when they are really out to get you. |

| Speaking of "civility," his avatar shows a dead tabloid journalist who provoked a serial killer and paid for it with his lips. And I bet he never imagined someone else knew from whence his avatars came... |
