| The British OFfice also didn't last. While I feel like the American office is losing steam, how many times can you watch reruns? |

Edit- ach hell I'll throw this joke in re- "education rocks". All in good fun of course.
Q: What are the two smallest books in history?
A: The book of Italian bravery and the book of Irish knowledge! |
seriously though - what other governments give "free" education like the paddy's do > and we're pretty employable throughout the world with those degrees and we're not saddled with 100k in debt for the privilege up to degree level of course - we have shag all private schools because they're not needed really.
American and British highschools - don't make me laugh, the standard and scope of material tested is crap - Paddys beat them hands down there too !
oh yeah and we actually pay our teachers well "D
as a nation we value education pretty highly (because it's not like we've got a whole lot more going on )
Irish stew, colcannon, Irish sausages, the Irish breakfast
and Guinness just to keep the aul bowels in motion after all of that
the one thing that i can't abide is the word "brah" i don't know why but calling my friend a device used to support bobbies is not a good thing |

The UK does comedy better.
Peep Show(I still think every episode is hilarious)
The Office
Extras
Alan Partridge
I think we do drama better in the US. |

I'm only ragging too - if Ireland was so great I'd have a job there
we're currently cutting our teacher's throats and sacrificing public servants to the evonomic gods so much for all the education
I'm a fairly afflicted petrolhead so American car culture for me is a huge thing not the fast and the spurious ricer culture but good old American grunt v8 goodness - gotta love it!
it's very easy to get lost in the more visible Americana and miss the good bits !
I also think America does dramas extremely well - I'm addicted to hbo stuff and even the stuff that isn't great manages to be engaging enough to keep you occupied.
things like comedy are so subjective , if i play some bill hicks material to friends from home half of them would cringe and be put off it , similar with Irish comedians some just plain don't get the jokes as they have no frame of reference or it's a totally different type of humor, sometiems it's just plain crude to strange ears. |

I was gonna try to defend the homeland but I gave up because I can feel the Irish coming though in your writing.
I have a soft spot, I guess, because although I'm not Irish I lived in Southie (Boston) for years.
If you've ever supported the IRA then most likely some of my dollars were filtered from the local bars to your cause - not that I intended that to happen. I don't approve of blowing up my British friends.
Anyway, some Irish girls are hot (some of the one's who've I've seen who've emigrated, anyways). |

Britain does definitely punch above its weight with its cultural output but British TV bar comdedy is becoming embarrassing. Before UK could compete with US on quality drama but the sheer quality of American shows like Mad Men, the Wire etc compared to dirge like the Bill is staggering.
In terms of music I think since the war the UK has at least been on level pegging with the US and I dont really think England and expecially London looks to the states for musical inspiration.
Im not saying the UK is good in general as it isnt really that fantastic right now but we do punch above our weight in a lot of areas. I cant imagine any country has a newpaper as bad as the Daily Mail tho. |

My observations don't support that at all. My observations, having performed a very careful analysis of the evidence, strongly suggest that the peoples descended from the Celts and the Anglo-Saxons are the ugliest in Europe and quite possibly the world. |

I too have a problem with provo's blowing up/killing other nations in my name - as in they're not doing it in my name. They wouldn't get support for it from most Irish these days to be honest. You can be as Irish as you want and still not support that kind of crap. I'm from the south so I have the luxury of that view some would say.
As for Irish women - no comment ! That's much more dangerous than talking about the above
Anyways American and British culture are the strongholds I guess in terms of Drama and comedic productions, the op said he was tired of american culture - what are the alternatives outside these two, I wonder?
is there some new New Zealand comedy gold we're all missing out on? |

Of course, they did become ever so famous when they teamed up with the Americans. |

Oh, you need to check out the people of Papua New Guinea or Australian aborigines for that imprimatur. |
