I just talked to the US Embassy in Seoul and they say there's nothing we can do; apparently they're talking to the Korean government to resolve the situation, but who knows if anything will ever improve. They also say it wouldn't help to get married in America since we've already been married in Korea. Has anyone tried to fly to Guam after getting married in Korea and successfully gotten an F2? Has anyone gotten an F2 in the last three months?
I've asked my wife to try to contact as many government officials as possible so that they know what's going on, and I think the other members here who are trying to get their hands on this visa should probably ask their spouses to do the same, as useless and futile as it may seem. There doesn't seem to be any other option for American citizens at this point. If any of you are American citizens who got married in Korea and successfully managed to get an F2 visa in the last three months, please tell me how you did it. Thanks.
Edit: reading through this thread, I'm thinking now about going to the US Embassy in Japan to get the wedding certificate. Has anyone else tried this? I'm going to give them a call tomorrow... |

Homebrew, your posts have been so helpful to me! I'm also in the process of getting my F2 visa. I have followed all your steps and so far so good.
I was just wondering for when you go the get that new paper "Statutory Declaration of Legal Marriage", do you need to bring your spouse or any other documents?? Do you ONLY need your "Korean Marriage Certificate" that you get from the Gu-office (+57,500won for another notary service)??
Basically that "Statutory Declaration of Legal Marriage" is the replacement for a "Marriage Certificate from Canada", right?? |

They told me my wife needed to come, but she sat in the car and slept...hahaha. They didn't ask for her.
And ya, that's the only thing that was needed (the "Statutory Declaration of Legal Marriage"). Ohh, and passport of course. It was surprisingly easy!
