I dunno, OTB still tastes about the same to me as it did when it opened. It certainly hasn't been "Koreanized" (not that's necessarily a bad thing) |
Koreanization is most definitely a bad thing for us, the foreign population. This isn't about OTB in particular (I can't comment on that), but I witnessed it happen at Kervan
1) Kervan served tasty Turkish cuisine at reasonable prices and with excellent service. Foreign:Korean clientele something like 4:1
2) Kervan gets featured on Korean TV show
3) Seoul hipsters flock to Kervan
4) Prices raise through the roof because Koreans show astonishing price insensitivity to foreign food. Quality greatly lowered. Korean staff serve to Korean customers with Korean manners. RICE is now served alongside the Kebab. Foreign:Korean clientele now 1:4 and rapidly rising.
Now imagine this repeating all over Itaewon and HBC with restaurants either closing or being Koreanized. Genuine ethnic food is few and far between. Pretty soon you'll have to go down to Ansan or Pyeongtaek to get a decent kebab. |

The market is deciding what is served, how it will be served and at what price it will be sold at. |
