Most people in the USA and the Koreas are taking the movie way too seriously. It's going to have about as much effect on world events as Hot Tub Time Machine 2 will have. |

A lot of people say that the interview would have this great subversive effect if released in North Korea. I'm not so sure.
If I'm on the other side of the world in a more traditional environment and the alternative offered by the enemy is a bunch of vulgar jokes and and immaturity, I might not become an instant convert and it may instead drive me more to be a loyalist.
This happens in the Middle East too where we struggle to grasp why people would reject a lifestyle filled with promiscuity, drugs, blasphemy, and lack of family centeredness. We mock what they hold most dear and then act surprised when instead of going "hahaha you are right" they say "screw you". |
I agree. |
North Koreans Want to Watch ‘The Interview’; Government Freaking Out
http://screenrant.com/north-koreans-watching-the-interview/
What many never expected is the currently burgeoning demand to see The Interview among the North Korean people.
According to Free North Korea Radio – an online station operated by defectors from the country’s oppressive regime – North Koreans are willing to pay as much as $50 for a pirated copy of The Interview. |

How foreign movies changed my life in North Korea
Ask a North Korean:
http://www.nknews.org/2014/10/how-foreign-movies-changed-my-life-in-north-korea/
You see, the foreign cultures and lifestyles visible in the DVDs and TV shows in the 2000s were especially appealing to the younger generation in North Korea, the contents of which all had a dream-like quality to us. So just like in countries around the world, the DVDs and films we watched had an affect on us — often leading to new trends in our sheltered North Korean culture, too. |

Some will see it and maybe like it.
Some will see it and not like it.
The majority will not see it or even if they do they will disregard it because it makes no difference in their lives.
Same same. Nothing changes.
Bunch of bullshit. |

First, I take any defector claims with a grain of salt. Second, I think the propaganda effect of this would be negligible compared to say, a standard Korean/American TV drama series which pictures the day to day commonplace wealth, comfort, and freedom that everyday people enjoy. |

What a lot of you pissants dont know is that Steelrails IS a defector. He defected the *beep* out of North Korea in the mid 90s, by aircraft which he piloted and then ship which he captained.
He knows North Korean comedy! And Rogen/Franco aint it. |

Defectors don't think it's funny and they say the North Koreans won't think it's funny either.
http://news.yahoo.com/interview-no-laughing-matter-n-korean-defectors-094238316.html
"For North Koreans, it's the equivalent of portraying Jesus as a debauched, crooked scoundrel. It would not be at all funny," said Park.
"There are no comedy films in North Korea, and we have (a) different sense of humour."
One thing that left her particularly unimpressed was the lack of resemblance between Randall Park, the Korean-American actor who plays Kim, and the dictator himself. |

IMO I think Diana Bang did a good job portraying the minister of propaganda in the film. |

Yeah, but does "best-grossing online film ever" translate into overall success considering the traditional venues that were closed off to them? Maybe, maybe not.
Quote: |
Controversial North Korea satire "The Interview" has made over $31 million on the Internet and other small-screen formats, Sony's best-grossing online film ever, the studio said Tuesday.
Including box office takings the movie has made some $36 million, approaching its reported $44 million budget, according to the Hollywood studio.

I cannot believe how stupid this movie is. It got so stupid that I fast forwarded it several times and then just deleted it.
And that actor from Batman - hte guy who cut off his leg in that outdoor camping movie - can't do comedic acting worth shit.
Enuff said. The media, is usual, blows this kind of thing out of all unproportions. |
