I think it's evidence the topic is at a natural end. We had the moral equivalent of "oh yeah, you're just like Hitler" which naturally signals the end of any discussion. |

Why would anyone joke about the holocaust?
It's an insult to even insinuate that.
I meant and still mean every word I wrote. |
Go sell your faux outrage some place else. |
Who is outraged? The only person here seeming to lose his cool and resorting to childish name calling is you. I and probably most people here would agree I've raised a number of valid and insightful points. |
no, most people would not agree...
you've yet to raise a single relevant point to the topic of this thread, and therefore have provided no insight.... |
Wow the irony of someone with the usertitle "freethought" being so bigotted. Why don't you sell your anti-semitic viewpoints to Ahmadinejad and the Stormfront boys, racist. I'm sure they would be far more interested in your denials while the grownups here can intelligently discuss the comparisons between Japanese internment camps and the holocaust as the OP intended. |
I did not intend to discuss the comparisons between Nazi concentration camps and American internment camps, but at least it is more on topic than my avatar~
I really do not think anyone is comparing the two here except you. There is no comparison - I'll give you that. That does not, however, take away from the inexcusability of the American government in imprisoning its own citizens because of their ethnic background.

Don't be so naive, moron. |
That was, in fact, what I was wondering.

I actually think the internment of the Japanese was a good idea. Depriving them of their property however was pretty shabby and probably unconstitutional.
However, the USA (and its allies) are not at war with Islam (the world's largest religion). |

Well, you definitely have an opinion that I believe many on here would consider wrong (including myself), though that is what a free society is about. It would probably still help if you explained why you think it was a good idea. |

| Because many of them would be slaughtered by so-called patriots. Also, the Japanese were hardly an integrated part of American society in 1942. Their allegiance was highly questionable. |

Do you have any sort of back up for either of those statements? |

I would love to hear your defense of (1) why you think it was ok to imprison over 120,000 people without a trial. Was it only for their protection as you mentioned above? Was this really the reason of the US government, and does it really matter?

Integrated or not, over half of them were American citizens.
