I feel a bit sad for him. He dedicated his life to the Christian faith and the belief in a personal God. Now he's just dead. No God. No resurrection. No Jesus waiting with open arms. His last thoughts were, "I'm going to meet my God". And he's not even there.

I call that sweet justice.

Another point of contention: What if we we were talking about a Muslim extremist?

Like when Zarqawi died and Rice so jubilantly declared: We gotem! was that an appropriate time to celebrate someones death? Should we have said: I didnt agree with Zarqawis ideas, but I sure feel sad for him because he can no longer enjoy the world? What about Muhammad Dadullah, the recently deceased Taliban commander? After all, he was fighting for a religious cause he strongly believed in. Should we take a moment to consider his family and all his accomplishments? Or wait, let me guess: This is TOTALLY different, right??

Wrong.

Good point. You helped me think about something in a new way. Thank you.

True enough. A fair comparison.

Thing is....I think both type of extremists are an awful thing for the world in 2007.

No tears shed for both.

I 100% agree with you there. Look no further than your daily newspaper to see the horrors that modern religious and political extremism, on ALL sides, has wrought upon the world. The sad fact is, this has been going on for the better part of the last 2000+ years, so I hold out little hope for any resolution in the near future. Whats even worse is that even if we did get rid of religious extremism, theyre be some other hideous philosophy or ideology to come rushing in and take its place: fascism, communism, colonialism, nazism, nationalism, Kim Il Sungism, or what have you.

Yup, nothing left to do but dream, gentleman.

You might say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.

No, you're not. Dreams can be real if we want to do the work ...

Very Happy
