Anyone know whether this film will be showing anywhere in Seoul.

I ask because i have seen many a Korean requesting Joy Division tracks on a night out and they have influenced many a Korean band as far as i can tell.

Cheers.

What is it? A dramatised film? A documentary?

I see nothing on IMDB about it.

Joy Division has a Korean fan base? I'm clearly hanging out in the wrong places with the wrong people.

I've seen Koreans wearing t-shirts with the cover from Unknown Pleasures on them. I asked a person wearing one but he had no clue who Joy Division was.

Sadly, Sonic Youth's Washing Machine and Sister album covers have suffered the same fate over here.

It's a film based on Curtis' life.

You didn't look very hard.

Very Happy

Not sure of their fan base, but i requested a few tracks in the Go Go bar, Hongdae and a Korean group were drum, guitar soloing along.

Aha! It's called Control. Not 'Closer' like you said. Okay. Great. I'll keep an eye out for it but something tells me it won't be on the big screen in Korea. You'll have to download.

Look at Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People, the one with Steve Coogan, for a depiction of the JD and the rise of The Factory. Brilliant film about the Manchester scene from 1976 to the end of the '90s Happy Mondays.

Probably not a huge help to those in Seoul but if you can make it down to Busan it will be showing in PIFF.

I swore I heard a Korean song that sampled New Order's Blue Monday or Bizarre Love Triangle.

What are names of Korean bands influenced by Joy Division? & where do they play? I'll be back in Seoul in the next few weeks, & will be up for checking out some live music.

Unknown Pleasures was one of a handful of records I had on vinyl, but bought the CD too. Definitely stands the test of time.

One of the great records of all my time, in my opinion.
