Just a general warning. A group of my uni students came to afternoon class all dressed-up and wearing tons of make-up. When I asked why, they stated that they are going to ... HONGDAE!

I'm too old for the scene. I thought I'd pass this information along for you young guys.

You mean like in your avatar OP? Or like gaudy trannies? Or like some kind of punk gangsters looking to raise some hell tonight?

I guess Korean trends really do follow Japanese trends.

Are they going out to all get laid? I've never seen a "group" of Korean girls go out with the intention to get group laid by westerners. Maybe a pair or three, but whatever times-are-a-changing. More likely they are going out to sit around look at each other until they get bored if the group is big enough.

Maybe the OP is trying to warn potential clubbers of the gender confusion they might experience upon running into a bunch of make up-wearing flower boys. Then again, could be a useful training run for Bangkok for newb teachers. Buyer beware!

I see results of this thread ending up on the front pages of the Korean Herald a few days from now. "Bad tidings people, the future be bleak!"

Yes, they were all male goat-mi-nam looking for some male tail!

No, they were Freshman-aged uni ladies.

I went to the club last night at hongik area (green line 2), someone said it was something that sounded like Hongdae

It was "club night" and you pay 15,000 won and get to go to as many of the clubs as you want.

I'm an exchange student studying at ewha a couple of subways stops away.

The place was okay. There were a lot of rap clubs, but all the girls were definitly all over me. They must've wanted some from a westerner.

But don't go on club night.... way way too many people, it's like shoulder to shoulder.

But if you spend a few hours there you can find yourself someone that will go home with you.

Is it just me, or has all of the negative publicity about the place, and foreigners being there, just drawn-in more people?

I go there about once a year, so I have no idea.
