Here's one by Bill Cosby. I love him and hate him, but he surely is one of the best comedians ever; no doubt. Please share your favorite stand-up comedy moment. (As long as it's not Jerry Seinfeld...) |

Two words:
Richard Pryor
Okay, some more words:
This is the first 10 minutes of his Live in Concert show.
If you are around 42 or older I'm sure you watched
it a thousand times on HBO, like I did, when it first came out.
So many memorable bits. You can watch all the parts on Youtube,
or download the whole thing from a torrent or something. |

There's actually a Korean comedy routine I've seen that made me piss myself laughing. Of course, I get the idea that it's about as old as "Who's on First?" for us, and Koreans don't find it nearly so funny anymore.
It's the story about this Korean man, but he has this outrageously long name, and everyone in the story has to say his whole name when they speak about him. He falls down a well and they have to rescue him and everyone gathers around explaining to to newcomers what's happeneing, all the while this dude's long name is thrown around like a tongue twister. During the skit they must say his name about 20 times.
I just can't remember the dude's name, it's like 20 characters long in hangul. Something like 김거북somethingsomethingetcetcetc.
Any Koreans here know which comedy routine I'm talking about and can recite the man's full name? |

From The Carol Burnette Show: Tim Conway and Harvey Korman (sp?) - The Dentist Sketch

Unfortunately, it's not the complete sketch, just a short outtake, but it's all I could find. Watch Korman trying not to lose it. And, this was LIVE on the air! |

There's a Monty Python sketch that sounds very similar to this about a composer called Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern- schplenden- schlitter- crasscrenbon- fried- digger- dingle- dangle- dongle- dungle- burstein- von- knacker- thrasher- apple- banger- horowitz- ticolensic- grander- knotty- spelltinkle- grandlich- grumblemeyer- spelterwasser- kurstlich- himbleeisen- bahnwagen- gutenabend- bitte- ein- nrnburger- bratwustle- gerspurten- mitz- weimache- luber- hundsfut- gumberaber- shnedanker- kalbsfleisch- mittler- aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.

I loved watching the Carol Burnette Show when I was growing up. Korman was always losing it during his sketches with Tim Conway. |

Yes! VERY similar to the Korean routine. If only I could remember the Korean name they called him. |
