|
|
I'm getting a lot of sound distortion and cut outs on Skype. My Yahoo Voice is actually working better than Skype. Odd, cuz it's usually the other way around. Both yahoo and Skype seem to get much worse if I'm running Mozilla, MS Paint, any other program while using voice. Skype may stop working altogether if I open my browser. Will extra RAM do anything to fix this? Have any of you had this problem and managed to patch it up? I really don't want to go back to using prepaid cards if I can help it. VOIP is infinitely cheaper, but Yahoo has its usual quality issues, and Skype is the one I'd like to fall back on if I can. |

I haven't experienced the same problems as you, but in recent months SKYPE has added many more options so it does take more memory to run. Since extra memory is so cheap it would probably be worth popping some in. I have a lot of memory in my machine so can run several programs at once with SKYPE, and you may find that if you increase your memory the problem will be solved. |

Well, the extra memory is probably something I should get anyway; good call. |

humm...you have the box checked 'let skype modify your settings'?? I am not sure exactly where this box is but if you have gone thru all your settings maybe you have seen it.
Sounds like you are having a memory issue though based on the fact that skype runs worse when you have other windows opened up.
I would start by cleaning out unnecessary files, defragmenting, getting rid of yahoo messenger (temporarily at least to isolate the source of problem) and running through my settings. good luck |
