Hi,

I have just started to wear glasses, 1 day before i came to Seoul and now i want a new pair or probably some contact lenses.

Are there any good English speaking opticians knocking about. Preferably Itaewon as i'm off to what the book Wednesday.

Oh, do i need my perscription.

Cheers.

I am certain you will find a place in Iteawon. You won't need a perscription, they can test your eyes on the spot. I don't know of any specific locations, but just walk about in Iteawon, you are bound to walk by a shop.

I just bought a new pair of glasses this past weekend in MyeongDong. There are tons of shops in the underground shopping area and most of them spoke some sort of English. Brand new pair 45,000 won. So cheap! They also have contacts at good prices too.

You can adlib. I did with my optometrist. They usually understand you need an eye test/prescription.

You can do this and get by with no Korean.

I also suggest Myong-dong... right across the street from the big Lotte Dept. store is a shop on 2nd floor of a building (I imagine it's still there somewhere). Also, if you are in Bundang, there is a good shop inside the building, directly across from the Homever store at Yatap station. Homever 3rd floor in the big building with the CGV theater.

Itaewon has an optometrist or two along the South side of the main street. One not far from the Subway and Outback restaurants, and further West until you reach the end of the street (same side).
