There was a thread on here awhile back and damned if I can find it using the search function. A piece of junk that is. .......

I recently put up a TED talk feed at http://eflclassroom.ning.com/page/page/show?id=826870%3APage%3A10990

Scroll and find a great lecture, watch large screen. I'll be adding more to the feed in the near future.

What is your best TED talk?

I love Ken Robinson of course, being a teacher. I also liked Richard Baraniuk and his views on open source education/materials. Steven Pinker for language and Wade Davis for his fascinating stories as an ethnopharmacologist and now Nat. Geographic explorer.

My favourite website bar none.

Some truly amazing stuff on there. Some of the talks should be made compulsory in schools.

Few of my favs:

Blaise Aguera y Arcas. This just looks so impressive.

Edward Burtynsky: Photographer. Fascinating, and contains some stunning imagery. Worryingly revealing.

William McDonough: Architect. My favourite of all the TED talks. This talk inspired me to undertake an MSc in Environmental Decision Making, which I start in a couple of weeks. Given some of the problems we're facing, it's reassuring to see that some people are doing something about it. Definitely the Yang to Edward Burtynsky's Yin.

James Howard Kunstler: Social critic. Like William above, James is another who's proactively doing something about the state of the world we live in, in his case, dealing with suburban sprawl. Poignant yet funny.

Sir Martin Rees: Astrophysicist. If I could have any 12 people from history around my dinner table, Sir Martin would be one of them.

Tell your friends, co-teachers, family, students etc about TED and post your favs.
