I was wondering how you guys deal with kindergarten nose pickers.
Some of them do it inconspicuously, for example I saw one boy pick one out and stick it on the ceiling of the playhouse when he thought no one was watching.
But some of them do it out in the open, not caring who sees.
I have a couple regulars. One girl was always picking and I had to keep telling her "Please use toilet paper". Recently, she has started covering her nose with one hand and picks with the other. An improvement, I guess.
Another girl eats it. No matter how many times I tell her that it's nasty, I see her do it a couple minutes later. Today, one of her classmates mentioned it to her while in the act, and she removed the finger immediately and looked embarassed, but was right back at it seconds later.
How do you guys deal with this?
Sorry for the gross out thread. Embarassed

If I see it, I'll call them out on it. "Min Su! Don't pick your nose! Yucky!" They've mostly been cured of the habit. But I only have 10 kindy/pre-kindy total, so I can keep a pretty close eye on them all.

President Roh Moo-hyun got caught picking his nose whilst Dear Leader was speaking during the inter-Korean summit this week (the Joong-ang Ilbo reported that he used both thumb and finger). If the President does it, there is no hope of stopping the Kids.

When i worked at a hagwon I had students who regularly picked their noses. One student even went as far as to wipe his boogers on fellow students. How did I dea with it? Embarrass him as much as possible. Make him write "I will not pick my nose in class" 50 times and then put it on the wall next to the student work. Or just yell at them "Yaejin! Gross! What's wrong with you? Are you a baby? Babu babu babu!!!"

Lately, I've started mining for boogers myself. I see it all the time here, adults, children, it's just part of the culture.

Where do you flick your boogers? I put mine on my foreign co-teacher's chair. He wears the same pants everyday and has a healthy booger patch blooming on his rear left pocket.

Ride the subway or bus you see it all the time with old people, young people. The kids are just copying what they see at home. My mother in law picks her nose hardcore. Sometimes she has her whole finger in their. Then she goes and cuts and apple and asked if you want some Embarassed
