My family is coming to visit me in January, and I'm buying them a cheap card phone to use.

Been a while since I owned one, so..... how many talking minutes does 10,000 won buy on these things?

Are incoming calls still free?

Does it matter which provider the phone is from?

How much are texts? Free incoming?

Thanks!

incoming is FREE - text and talk.

10,000 won gets you about 30 minutes (I think 26min is the actual number).

An initial hookup for a card-phone requires a 30k won "load" for your 1st time. It lasts for 90 days (before expiry) or 90 minutes (of talk time).

I don't know about the price of sending texts.

Any phone shop that sells the phone to you can hook you up.

If I buy a card phone from a teacher that is leaving, can I keep their phone number and just buy minutes to keep it active?

There is an SK shop down the street which sells used card phones which were owned by students. I asked the guy if I needed to pay a charge to activate it, and he said no. They seem to go through so many student phones, they just keep them active and sell them off. We're near a high school, so maybe that's why. After hearing this from a few used phone stores on the street now, I don't plan on buying any used phones at Techno-mart.

Please excuse my ignorance, if I buy a used SK, or whatever phone, do I also have to buy the SK cards or will any card work on the phone?

Just go to any SK phone store, and tell them you want to add money on your phone. You don't technically even need a card.

yes, but you need the store brand that provides your service (ie: LG shop if you have LG srevice, Show if you have KFT and SKT if you are on the SK network. )

Most franchise shops (the ones that sell all 3) do NOT like to reload your phone for you because they don't get any commission for it.
