First, I'd like to inform everyone there's a festival in Ulsan. I haven't even looked up the info or artist line up.
Second, I'd like to say the band Bajofondo is playing there both days. They are awesome.
Third, I'd like to bitch about the fact this is happening in Ulsan and that Bajofondo isn't playing in other cities, namely the freaking capital of Korea. Idiots. |

I fully agree with the comment on the Bajafondo Tango Club; they are amazing! A band with musicians from Argentina, Uruguay, and the USA who have brought the Tango square into the digital age...
Check out their new album Mar Dulce, and the tune Pa'Bailar to see what the fusss is about...
Now, about the scheduling of the Ulsan festival...it seems to be the latest incarnation of the Ulsan Jazz Festival, which was the festival that showcased mostly Korean jazz talent(s) in the past...this year they've obviously expanded their horizons, BUT...to have it happen AT THE SAME TIME AS THE JARASUM JAZZ FESTIVAL?????
Moronic!
They never did this before, and a little foresight and planning could have had Ulsan's event a week later, and allowed them to share acts with Jarasum, so people could have gone to both - like the Folk and Jazz Festivals do in Canada...but no... |

I thought Fanfare Ciocarlia played a great set. I remember them winning a BBC World Music 'Europe' award a couple of years ago. They put great energy into their performances. So I was looking forward to seeing them live for the first time.
I was also impressed with the Korean group, Easternox. As the name suggests .... east meets Jean Michel Jarre? Anyway, a nice mix of traditional korean beats meeting modern sounds.
I wish I could have gone again tonight to see Bajofondo. |
