I just wanted to get a sense of what folks, especially in Seoul, generally pay for utilities (electric, gas, etc.)

I ask because the utlities on my apartment seem staggeringly high. During the summer, we used the A/C rather often (though not when we were out of the house), and I expect the costs to drop as a result of the more moderate weather, but I am nonetheless shocked.

My apartment is relatively small (about 34 pyung). Does anyone have any ideas of what appropriate costs would be? I am very distrustful of my landlord and have heard many stories of scams.

TIA

34 pyong - about 112 sq meters - 1200 square feet?
That is NOT a small apartment in Korea.

Electric is on a sliding scale dependant on useage - the more you use the higher the per unit cost so your electric bill seems to go up exponentially.

Gas should be virturally non-existant during the summer, your maintainence / common area costs can be as high as 150k on top of the electric and water.

Then add in your TV and internet.

Ya mine are really high in Yongin. Pisses me off but what can you do? Some people are just like with lower costs. Depends on the building...
