Since I am measuring my salary in U.S. dollars, every time the dollar falls in relation to the won, my salary goes up. So based on this chart, I got a raise just about every day in September. But then, my teaching skills have been steadily increasing.

And guess what? The dollar just hit a new low vs. the Won, at least in the past year or so, but I suspect ever. And it looks like this is just the beginning. Almost a shame to go changing those won into greenbacks.

I haven't been tracking the won vs. other currency. A large part of the equation is the dollars overall demise. Which would be a lot more painful if I were in the States. But then, I'm not.

Looks like we will be down to 900 won to the dollar before long. Bets, anyone?

You know the saddest part of this whole thing? In the States, many businesses consider a 3 percent raise each year an act of monumental generosity. Yeah, right. It's called COLA, assholes.

It's always fun when the exchange rate goes in your favor. Imagine how you will feel when the Won hits 850, like it was 10 years ago...and it may have been somewhere in the upper 700's at one point.

I do believe it was. I seem to remember 790... 800 - 850 I remember clearly. It got as high as 1600's or more for a while. It was 1300 as recently as 2003/4...
