| I just realised my E2 runs out 29th Aug 08 but my contact is until 31 August. If I leave on the 29th maybe I won't get severence. Can I extend the E2 for a day or 2? What is the best thing to do? |

| Yes, it's easy to extend, just make a trip to immigration. |

| you'd be working illegally if you didn't. get it extended. make sure you tell your boss a few weeks before you need it extending. it happened to me at the end of every contract, not a big deal. your boss may even get it done for you. |

| It's possible to extend online at http://www.g4f.go.kr (government for foreigners). No need to visit immigration for that. |

You can pay for the revenue stamps online as well? (extending the E2 will cost W30,000) |

| A short extension like this should be free. I don't know how to do it online, but in person just show them your plane ticket. Why do you need to tell your boss? |

Yes, you can extend online for free at the G4F website. However, you must be able to attach a copy of your air tickets out of Korea to the application - so get e-tickets (or be able to scan your paper tickets).
Take a copy of the confirmation email with you to the airport and be prepared to show it to: the airline staff at check-in, the Immigration Affairs Office and the Immigration Officer. |

Extending a WORK visa is not free. It is W30,000
If you are FINISHED your contract and wish to extend your stay for a week or so, then yes, THAT is free (as long as you show an onward ticket).
I had to extend my visa twice. I tried to do both in the same day, but they disallowed it. First, they extended the work visa an extra 3 days (to allow me to continue working), then I had to go back 3 days later to extend for an extra 3-4 days before I could go on my new visa run for my new school.
The former extension cost money, the latter did not. |

so you can get time off work to go to the office, or so that they can do it for you. if you don't want to do it online. |

| I extended my work visa online and it was free. It was only a matter of three days plus a few more until I fly out. I made it clear to them when I applied that it expires before my contract. |

Are you sure it was your WORK visa you extended, or you just extended the SOJOURN period so you can catch your plane? The former allows you to continue working (and costs money), the latter does not allow work at all (and is free).
This all assuming rules haven't changed, but that's the way it's been for years. |
