|
|
I read through the other pension posts, but couldn't find the answer... can anyone help me?
I was in Korea for a year, then left for a 2 week vacation, expecting to return for a contract at a different school. I did not apply for a pension refund, and I did not close my Korean bank account. My friend applied for her pension refund and had it in her Korean account in one week.
I need to return to Korea to empty my bank account, and wonder if I can go to the pension office to get my pension money while I am there on a tourist visa. I'd rather have the money in a week than wait months for it to get to my Canadian account. Does anyone know if this is possible? Can I go to ANY pension office, or just the one in the district that I worked? I don't have my alien card anymore either.
Has anyone else done this?
Thanks very much!

You don't need your ARC but you do need your old ARC number. Think of it as your account number. The pension office won't have your passport on file.
You should be able to get it from the immigration office you were registered at. Ask nicely.
