You almost certainly have a bad RAM module.

If I were going to be here longer I'd offer you some cash. As it is, to potential buyers: Pick up the system and swap ALL the RAM modules and you should be good to go. Don't mix and match, as often that can lead to conflicts with parity and speed.

Thanks for that, normalcyispasse. For completeness: that MB manual says that the DIMMs in slots 1 and 3 have to match, and the DIMMs in slots 2 and 4 have to match. I did try it with only 2 matched DIMMs in only 1 and 3, and still no joy, but of course you could still be right.

Sorry, maybe this is a dumb question, bare with me Smile

What cpu does it have?? Intel 915P, P4 3.0 core solo?? I realize it may be *beep*'d though....or could be just the ram.

I want to build a OSx86 machine.....but need to make sure it works. (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page)

Sorry, dumb question, dumb answer-- I'm no genius myself. It's an Intel P4 single-core cpu. Physically it's a socket 775 type. Not sure beyond that. If/when I figure out a bit more about it, I'll post it.

By the way, I'll throw in the original Intel CPU fan in addition to the new one.

It's not the CPU. It's the Windows installation. You probably deleted some file during registry cleanup or when uninstalling some program. Reinstall Windows and everything will be fine.

Thanks beaver, pretty confident that's not it however. Sometimes there's no POST beep and no video. If a PC fails a POST, Windows hasn't even come into play yet.
