...me too. I konked-out once from a needle.
It didn't help either that the nurse was a rookie, and she took about 3 attempts to do it correctly.
If you have to get a shot, then do it while lying down....that reduces the likelihood of you fainting. |

Fainting while giving blood is not uncommon. I'm a fainter. It's sort of embarrassing, but fainting really doesn't necessarily have anything to do with fear, although it can. It's called vasovagal syncope. And if you faint once, the chances are good that it will recur. It has to do with a drastic lowering of your blood pressure that your body can't react to properly. A good way to avoid it is to make sure you eat a full meal and drink something like Gatorade to get your salt and fluid levels up. Laying down isn't really going to reduce the chances of your fainting by much, but it will help if you DO faint.
I'm not afraid of needles, but I totally bit it when I got my nose pierced. I went down so hard. The piercer was a friend of mine, and he still gives me crap about it to this day. He says people faint all the time in the piercing chair, and there's no way of predicting who will faint and who won't. |

If a hagwon asked me to a big physical test to get a job they better be paying 6 or 7 million a month for under 25 hours a week. Otherwise it is not worth the invasion of privacy. Beside I heard CDI is a serious drag to work at. Why would want to do a physical to get a job there???? |

I tend to faint in the reception area ten minutes after the needle (just general needles, not giving blood). It's really embarrassing, and has nothing to do with fear. I just react to EVERYTHING.
The last time I went back for repeats (I was going India and needed three million injections) the staff announced to each other - and everybody else in the waiting room - to lie me down because I might faint with fear. I wanted to kill them. |

Yes oneoftheSarahs, i think you're right. Lying down doesn't prevent you from fainting....its just safe practice as it prevents you from falling out of a chair and banging your head. Interesting facts you mentioned about the biology of fainting.
That's unfortunate Natalia, but at least we don't have to get many injections that often.
Arby, maybe you could email CDI about the issue and hear what they have to say. |

Yes THEY DRAW BLOOD and they also X-RAY YOUR CHEST FOR NO GOOD MEDICAL REASON!!!!! And they also piss test you and blood drug test you and Aids and everything else test your blood. If anything AT ALL comes up, you're cut loose. I know a dude that had some THC in his piss and was already employed hastily before the results came back....they fired his asss pronto! And a girl I was with had her arm swell up from the needle the size of a half of a golfball and nobody including her had any idea why or what to do.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE, its pure hell. YOU WILL REGRET IT, I PROMISE YOU. BEEEEWAAARE. DON'T DO IT, DO-NOT-DO-IT ! |

The chest x-rays are to make sure you do not have TB, if you want citizenship in a few countries you need to do the same. TB is a highly contagious disease that can hang around a while before you realise you have it. |

You have to have a TB check done before you can get into a education program in Canada. They require the skin test to be done, not the x-ray. Both can find TB, but the skin test is more reliable. |

Muahahaha. You're not helping her feel better about needles
Aren't these medical tests like "okay ummm blood pressure now a couple pokes and SAY LETS DO AN AIDS TEST!"
They're really just HIV tests. |
