I live in a good part of town (near hong-dae) but there are no restaurants nearby my apartment. I get the food delivery fliers put on my door all the time. Will these guys deliver for just one dish for one person? Or is there like a minimum order or delivery charge? Do you tip the delivery guy here in Korea.
I'll try to start cooking soon, but if I'm alone, ordering out sounds much better.

If you can speak Korean well enough to order over the phone (what you want, your address, etc.), then you should already know the answers...

...but yes, they will deliver for one person, though they might b*tch a little. And no, you don't tip them.

Where I am, you can get a single dish delivered as long as its like 6ooow or more. No, do not tip the delivery guy/girl, unless you feel like it. They are not used to getting tips.

BUT, if you use one or two places regularly and you tip, like 1000-2000w, you are guaranteed fast friendly delivery plus lots of service-ah. I get free sides sometimes because I fork out an extra buck.

Order your lunch today and dinner for tomorrow and stick in the fridge until then. Works great with kimchi jiggae, daejeon jiggae, gimbap etc but not so great for tonkass. Also, order a largee pizza and it make it last for at least 2 days.

No tips. Period.

Usually those things have a notice that tells you the minimum order amount for delivery. They seem to make it just slightly higher than the price of the average dish. I don't have one handy, but I think the notice will be something like 6,000 이상 배달.

The first time you order have some one from your building call for you, so they have your address. Or have a co-teacher call for you. This way when you call the 2nd time they will know where you live.

Orders are delivered for one all the time around here. And that is good for you. When Koreans eat out they do not take home their left overs, and I am sure you will have some.

Also learn how to cook in your rice cooker. You will be surprised at all the stuff you can make in there.

Seoulshock, what kind of retard can't order something after a few months of living in Korea?
I knew some waegukins that couldn't order after a few months, but I didn't want to help them. I wanted them to realise how stupid they look and hopefully it would be a good reminder for them to make an effort.
I am going to say that English speakers would have to be some of the laziest people travelling around the world.
After a few months in Korea, I was able to make sentences and hardly ever needed any help with stuff. It is not because I am realy smart or something. And I did it on my own. It is because a lot of you are too lazy to learn the language.

Well that is called laziness. In Australia, most people hate the ones who move here and don't make an effort to learn the language. If a person can't make an effort to learn the local language, they should reconsider going there.

Thanks everyone for the info about the food delivery guys here in Korea. I'm saving the sheets they leave on the door and will give it a shot soon.
