You know, it may be cause I'm not really actively looking for one, but I can't say I've ever seen a hobby shop in Korea. I think there's one at the COEX, but if I remember it looked to be mostly Gundam kinda-stuff. |

And your solution is to buy a toy train?
There's a lot of things you could be doing down there. The beach for one, mountaibiking, hiking, fishing, fly fishing - there's a guy who'll take you out, give you the gear for a fee, they have white water rafting, parasailing, paintball, skiing in the winter... a casino in the mountains, and festivals all the time.
Forget the train and buy a car (a real one) and get around. You'll have lots to do. |

I feel your pain, me too....
If one or both of us finds one, let's play together. |

Naw, trains are a great way to alleviate boredom! It takes a high degree of patience and skill and yet its creative and fun.. and you dont need anyone else to do it.
However, I'd concur that I've never seen any real N or HO guage train sellers here. I dont think they're into it in Korea. However, yeah, in Japan, toy shops that sell those trains are everywhere. If you really want one, mail order or just take a trip to fukuoka and buy the parts there.... |

I've seen HO guage stuff around, but just the basic box kits, not real decent stuff to make a 4'x8' layout with and NO out of the box extra stuff like track, switches, joiners, etc.
Individual units of rolling stock is also impossible to find here.
You can find stuff to BUILD your scenes from scratch at your local stationary / art supply store (knives, balsa, fluff, etc).

-I guess its Japan for me then...I've found a few all korean websites, but I can't figure them out. I did find an RC store in Seoul but not in Gangwon-do and not my thing. |

I just remembered I think I saw some HO guage train stuff -- the basics, though -- at Kyobo in Seoul... |

You're not even in Korea yet. Reserve your judgement until you've set foot in the country. |

If you are ever around Yongsan there is a train shop in the same building as the theaters, actually on the same floor. I know nothing about model trains but he looked to be well stocked. |
