The highs will decline all week with highs in the 50's Shocked on Friday. Get ready- this summer humidity crap is about to become a memory.

Yep, I anticipated that it would start getting cool any day. I didn't even think the 1st week of October would be as warm as it was, because this is not a real warm temperate climate like you find on the same line of latitude in other parts of the world. I do know there is quite a difference between Seoul and Busan climates, because the Cherry blossoms came out 2 weeks later last Spring in Seoul than on the southern coast.

Korea falls on the same line of latitude as Texas and Arkansas, yet is not a warm climate so it will get cold before Halloween and stay cold until the end of March/1st of April time. Many people complained that the Korean Summer is too hot, but I found it to be very short and mild, but the long cold Winter is depressing as can be.

This past summer was unusual.

I'm hoping the winter will be typical because it's more of a "Brisk Autumn" than a proper winter.

The weather report I saw Saturday said we'd get rain here in Seoul on Sunday (spill over from a typhoon down near Taiwan). The morning was beautiful, but it's clouded up. Maybe that forecast was right.

This whole year has been unusual. Typically we can expect the warm days, cool nights to continue for another couple of weeks. The last week in October is always chilly.

Winter coats will come out in November. It will stay cold (sometimes down to 20 F) for a few days at a time, until the beginning of March. By the end of March, you will be wearing a jacket, not a coat.

This weather is quite refreshing. I just checked the weather back home in Orlando, FL and the highs were still in the low 90s F for the week.

Any recommendations for where to get a good winter coat around Seoul or Bundang?

I got a pretty sweet Airwalk snowboarding coat/jacket in Dongdaemun last year for dirt cheap. It does the trick.

Do you mind telling me where exactly in Dongdaemun? Every time I go shopping for clothes there I end up coming back home empty-handed, but drunk because of all the Nepali restaurants there. Thanks.

First off, I always end up drunk coming from Dongdaemun as well, but that is a story for another day. The place that I got the jacket from was one of those little shops under the old stadium. I have not been there for a while, and I know that they were working on that area, so it might not be there anymore.

The winter is far from long or cold here. I find we don't really get into winter weather until Dec-ish and it is usually gone by March (although the past two years the cold has hung on until the end of March beginning of April which sucks). If not for the cold dry wind the winters would be pretty nice here. 3 months of semi-winter weather is not bad at all.

esetters - you're from Orlando? I'm from that area as well. This will be my first winter outside of Florida. I think it will be tough.

Yes, born and raised in Central FL. Don't worry about the winter here. There are not too many days when it gets really cold. It's definitely not the weather that we are used to during those months, but it's not Minnesota either.
