Do any of you out there have any experience of, or information on, the above school or of having lived in Incheon. (I appreciate it's a subjective question but just your thoughts/experiences would be great.)
Anything at all would be really appreciated. I'm in the process of taking up a job offer there and have done what research I can (blacklists, message boards etc. ) and have found nothing specificly negative to that school. Incheon itself also sounds fine for what I am after (somewhere large and close to Seoul with an ex pat population.)
The job was brokered through Scott Park at Kims Korea and while it is maybe just my paranoia in stepping into unknown waters, or maybe just the way things are done in Korea, I'm not getting much back by way of where the process is currently at. The start date was for the middle of October and I am currently in the U.K. They simply state they have recieved my documents (degree, contract etc.) which they have passed to the school and I will be contacted, "sooner or later." Is that normal?
I was given an e mail address for a teacher at the school, who mailed that everything was fantastic there, but since then I have had no replies to further questions. Again maybe just paranoia, but it would be good to get any other info about the place from more experienced hands.
If these are inane dumbass newby questions my appologies, but thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to take the time to reply and humour me.
Would you believe it's my first time in Korea? |

GnB is essentially the MacDonald's of hagwon chains ... cheap, easy, and virtually everywhere. It is the fastest growing hagwan franchise as it is the cheapest to purchase. Because of it's size it is very difficult to maintain standards across the board so experiences can vary widely. I worked at a GnB in the south and while my experience wasn't TERRIBLE the books are complete garbage and the English level of the students was unbelievably low. I had to improvise ALOT of my lessons and found I was mostly doing "review". Also, the contract is pretty vague so you might want to get some specifics on your working hours. Hope this helps ... |
