|
|
I've been thinking about getting one and doing the exam for a radio license.
The reasons being A) for fun--my dad was pilot and into radios, B) we've just bought 40 acres 1/2 way up a very large mountain and will eventually be spending a lot of time building a house up there--with no real cell phone reception/telephone, I thought it might be a good thing for emergencies.
Any advice/suggestions? |

I'm a ham operator (32 years now). It's a great hobby, as well as communication device. Lots of study material on the internet. I don't know about Canada, but the US has just dropped the Morse code requrement, making it very easy for anyone to get a ham license now.
Good luck. |
