I have a pretty nice cellphone and i'm on a plan. I was wondering if it's possible to cancel the plan and make the phone work on minute cards? |

Yes, as long as you are the owner of record you can change it.
I assume you are aware that the rate for a prepaid service (pay as you go) is about 4 times higher per minute than a plan.
If you plan is more expensive than you anticipated (they start at 9k won per month and go up) you can pop into a phone shop and change your plan to the one that suites you best. |

I rarely use my phone and am always looking to save a couple won. Right now my bill is around 20,000 per month. Can i really get it as low as 9,000 including taxes and all that? Oh and one other thing, if you are using cards do you have to use one card every so many months or if I haven't finished using the minutes on a card could i potentially use it for a whole year or something? |

i've got a card phone...when i check my balance it gives me an expiration date for my minutes...so i'm assuming that the minutes will run out even if you have not used them if you go past that due date...
i'm thinking of switching from card phone to a plan...so for plans i need to pay a base monthly fee...does that fee include any minutes? or do i pay for each minute that i use on top of that monthly fee? |

i've had two plans so far in korea. the first -- show/ktf -- cost me about 20,000/month for 200 minutes. the phone cost me 20,000 (brand new) and i was charged a 30,000 connection fee.
the plan i'm on now seems to be cheaper for me because i don't use the phone much. i got an sk telecom plan that's about 14,000/month and charges me about 200 won for a few minutes. of course, incoming calls are free. thing is, there are crazy setup costs including a mandatory dmb and internet fee -- both can be canceled after a month or so -- as well as other startup fees that i don't remember. sk telecom also has minute plans.
i've yet to see a 9,000/month plan, but i'm rather new to all this. where can one get that sort of plan? |
