Now then everyone,

Just wondering how much to people get for their Christmas holidays. What sort of time frame?

Not that I'm deeply dissatisfied or anything, just wondering what the best and worst are.

since xmas is nothing more than a day off for shopping here, i wouldn't expect anything more than the day off.
public schools don't give any more than that.

My holidays are pretty big, if I am in the mood to go to the effort to make them that way. But that isn't what you're really talking about.

Our semester ends Dec. 14 and we start up again Dec. 28.

At my public school I will get off from January 18th to March 30th. Three weeks will be regular vacation and the rest will be Korean culture time.

March 30th.

??

When I did the public school gig, we started back in early March.

No matter. I hated teaching Korean high school students. I prefer teaching adults who actually want to be in class the 24 weeks I have them. (All except one, who is a git.)

Are you Orthodox?
The OP is asking about Christmas holidays. The Western Rite churches (RC, Anglican and Protestant churches) celebrate on Dec 25th, the Orthodoxen celebrate the Nativity according to the lunar calendar, so Christmas in the eastern churches will often fall in January.
Unless you are in fact Orthodox, Jan 5 - Feb 11 is a pretty sucky XMAS holiday.
