So this past weekend I went to Incheon with a few mates to a wedding. After the thing was over, we went out to Bupyeong and then near the bus terminal for a late late night feed at a very busy samgyeopsal restaurant. Good times.
The next morning I get a text from one of my mates who asks me if I remembered whether or nor he had his suit jacket at the restaurant. Seems we were all a little bit too tipsy to remember him wearing it. It was a very nice jacket he had purchased in England. Anyway, throughout the course of the day I get periodic texts from him saying he had gone back to Bupyeong and retraced our steps all the way to the restaurant in the hopes of finding it. No luck. The jacket was gone. My friend was gutted.
Today my friend pops round the shop to buy some milk. Thinking he'd give it one last go, he sticks his head into the restaurant where we'd been having late night samgyeopsal one last time to have a look. Even though he'd already looked in there before, and the girl told him it wasn't there, there was a different boy working so my friend thought he'd ask. Sure enough, the kid gestured to the coat rack and there was the jacket, still hung up ... and the best part was it still had money in the pockets. A full three days after the fact. At a very busy place.
God bless this country. |

Dude..
1. If people knew cash was in the coat, it would have been out of there.
2. The coat was probably too big for any of the guys to wear, thats why they left it alone.
3. Is that your kid or some sci fi new alien from some new age movie? |

The restaurant staff had all the time in the world to search the pockets.

Actually, no. My friend is slightly built and average height. Could probably fit many Korean guys.

So, you think they searched the pockets and just left the money there?
I guess your right, I bet at least 20 of the staff searched the pockets, found the money, and left it alone. Come on, nobody searched it because only an idiot would leave money in a coat. If they smelled money it would have been gone. What is the name of that pig place, the MOTHER THERESA HOGHOUSE.

What is AVERGAE......
3. What PM????????? Should I be scared.......... |

What if it is his kid??? Is your curiosity so deep that you need to post that question, or do you get some sort of satisfaction just trying to make someone feel bad/angry??
It's an idiotic question to ask. You should mind yer manners... |

See? This thread is proof as to why it is better to just post negative stuff about Korea on this board.
A guy starts a positive thread, saying something good about Korea and Koreans, and the first reply to the thread slams what he wrote, and even manages to insult one of his family members.
Is that a new record for this board? |

It's funny to see exactly what vermin crawls out from the woodwork when threads like these are posted. I take no offense from Mr. Swift ... he's not worth the time. If memory serves, he's the twat freakshow that was stalking certain posters here and spreading horse manure on that Seoul Police snitch board. Basement dwelling mutants often get their rocks off in strange and unusal ways. Mr. Swift is no exception.
PS And for the record, yes that is my kid in the picture, in one of her more mischievious moments. I took it myself. |

Not surprising at all that this happened..
The Koreans are almost always a very honest group of people..especially in situations like this..jackets, bags, wallets, phones..lost. As long as u leave them somewhere where u know (and not Itaewon) then the chances of getting ur stuff back are almost 100%
I bet they did not check the pockets for money. Why would they do that?? They werent trying to steal money. I bet that idea didnt even enter their mind!!!!
One of many great pluses about living in Korea!!!! |

Simply amazing, really! But then again I see things that are lost from time to time and it seems that nobody bothers w/ them...if it's not yours leave it be, eventually the owner will show up for it. That's one thing I like about Korea. |

Indytrucks, good on ya for posting something positive -- a nice change from the usual venting and kvetching.

Must say when I first came to Korea, I was impressed by the fact that so many businesses would leave their stuff in the streets, just covered with a piece a plastic, and next day it was still there.
Crime here is different to back home.
Not a lot of pilfering, but heaps of fraud, embezellment and dishonesty.
The dudes in the restaurant probably earn stuff all, yet they won't rip you off.
The Chaebol families are super rich, yet they'll pick the bones of a dead body.
Korean crims are much smarter than the ones back home, they don't bother with the small stuff, they go for the big bucks. |
