|
|
Hey Guys,
My Google-Fu is failing me - is online poker legal here?
I really want to play in this PC-bang but when I get a computer I'll be really annoyed if I can't play at home.
Anyway, if anyone knows it's cool that'd be nice.... before I get arrested 'an packed off home...
(oh, and if there's any home games in Pusan I'm in
Thanks.... |

Nah, I never tried. I only go to the PC Bang to play Sudden Attack once in a while. I would download it to a memory stick and give it a shot. I don't see it being a problem. |

We play once in a while up here in Ulsan. It's a 45 min. train ride or so. We also play some other games .... Thai Dummy, Blackjack, etc .... |

I remember the good old days of not paying attention to fights in Karazhan because I was too busy being distracted playing holdem' through the holdem' mod with others in the raid |

Errr..wa?
Anyways, close closed.... I'm gonna presume it's legal. If I get arrested I'm bringing you all down with me!

Good question. I'd hazard a guess to say it's illegal. I recall reading an article where some guy got arrested for illegal online gambling. He had used an alias and they traced it back to him. But Korea allows foreigners to gamble (Seven Luck Casino) but that doesn't necessarily translate to foreigners being allowed to gamble online. But even if it is illegal, I can't really see the government wasting their resources on some waygookin. After all, if we become destitute, they can just deport us.
I'd like other people to weigh in on this. |

Well I've clocked in a few hours at a PC Bang already and I haven't been carted off yet.
I suppose the chances of them monitoring access that closely is low, and the chances of them actually following up is even lower. I've only been able to find information that sites targetted at Koreans have been shut down, and also that skill games aren't illegal so maybe poker counts as that.
In fact, Elky, a well known pro, used to live in Seoul and I presume he definitely played online.
So it seems a grey area - anyone with more specific info? |
