Hi, my hated emachine is on its last legs, its a M6805, and its given me nothing but problems. Any help coming up with a new notebook would be appreciated.

General Questions

1) What is your budget?

My budget is $2,000 to $2,500 US dollars

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

I would prefer the 15 to 16, but I wouldn't turn down a 17+ if it met my other criteria.

I'm In South Korea and will be buying my notebook in Seoul.

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

No Emachines. Other than that I am open. I have heard a lot about the LG S1 and R500 Xnote and would love to hear about anyone who owns one if they are good for gaming and other media. Plus LG would be easy to get in Korea.

5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Gaming and Movies and Writing.

6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

Yeah I will be taking it to different places to write.

7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

WOW, EQ2, Age of Conan, any new MMOS on the horizon.

How many hours of battery life do you need?

2 would be cool

9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

Online is fine. I hope the shipping won't be outrageous because im in Seoul.

10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

I think glossy is good for gaming and movies for the vibrant colors, but I think I prefer MATTE any thoughts?

Build Quality and Design

14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

Yes, I love the look of the Xnote but I wouldn't comprimise performance for looks.

15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

I want to buy it before December 2007. I want it to last three years if not mroe.

Notebook Components

16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 200GB?

I want at least 100 GB 7200 rpm. 200 would be nice.

17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive?

Yes I want a dvd RW

In all honesty, you should try www.dell.co.kr and see what you can spec out there. You might be surprised.

Try "I" Plaza (or is it "I Park"?), in Yongsan, Seoul, for both computer repairs & new pc's. (5th floor from memory.) Mine actually died, & was 'revived' for 40k won.

Get a Mac. They are the absolute cheese of all computers. Only a complete idiot wouldn't buy one.
