Hey guys

I'm about 22 hours away from leaving Canada and starting my first teaching job in Korea. My question is regarding a gift for my director. I've read this is a very nice gesture when first meeting your director. I've purchased a nice bottle of perfume for her but was wondering if this should be wrapped? or left as it is. I realize it's not a brithday gift so I'm unsure whether to wrap it or no. Any insight into this matter would be great!

THanks

All gifts should be wrapped, and not in white paper as that's for funerals. Gold paper is best.

You might rethink the perfume. Although it's starting to catch on in Korea, for the most part (at least in my experience) only women under 25 seem to wear it. However, I base that on 1) what I've been told and 2) NEVER having noticed ANY perfume on a Korean woman of any age.

I brought a nice folding umbrella with English words all over it. Whatever you give, when you actually hand it over, do it with your right hand.

Tell ya' what- why don't you just get to Korea and make sure everything is kosher at your new hogwan job, and then you can worry about buying presents. Wink

But her a daily planner book. Before you give it to her circle all the days that she has to pay your salary. After about 6 months (if your salary has been deposited on time) then give her the perfume Very Happy
