Now it had been a while since I had fooled around with a K-girl so I was really perplexed when she asked, in reply to, "Yes, I do like sex," "I have woman's magic." I thought she was going to fly me to the moon. Instead she meant she was on her period.

It's great to have such a positive way of saying period, as a lot of English terms are negative. It's not dirty, disgusting or shameful, so great word, right? Except Koreans, in my experience, are the most prude when it comes time for their period. They seem to feel shame and disgust even if you try and comfort them (or pry their legs open, whatever). In the West we may say 'she's on the rag' or 'festering axe wound' but then we'll still have sex. Hell, I even earned my red wings once a time ago. I'm plenty hip to a girl's need for a bit of compassion, so why can't they be hip to my needs?

In summary, 'woman's magic' is misleading and I urge anyone who might hear such colorful language to heed my caution, step away, and poke around elsewhere.

Yeah, I was totally blown away when my students dropped that on me one day. "Magic time." Oh Konglish, what would I do without you?

"magic" implies fun! mystery! excitement!
"yes i like sex. i have women's magic" makes me think she does some pretty incredible stuff when she gets naked. bleeding? not so magical. or fun, or mysterious, or exciting.
unless of course it's a result of the naked magic that's already happening.
rss Cool

It's taken from a brand-name, I think. I like it. It's discreet. Sure, in reality it's gory and rather painful but come on! Everybody likes magic!

Maybe "magic time" refers to a time when a girl can't get pregnant! Go for it! It's (usually!!) the safest time of the month!

I wish I'd known this before I had to say to someone (in Korean), "I didn't get pregnant last month, so my stomach hurts this week. But I can do taekwondo. I'm not sick."

I tried "woman sick" but they didn't get it.

Nothing magic about some bloated cow who lies on the couch eating chocolate and moaning whilst bleeding all over the shop.
