Until now I've always been a PC man. Mainly because I thought a lot of the mac cultists were complete wankers and the expense.

But now that they are cheaper and seem run windows ok, I'm thinking of getting a little macbook.

Anyone gone from PC to Mac and had problems or perhaps regretted the switch?

I can't really see there being too many problems, but better safe than sorry hey.

I made the switch a few years ago and haven't looked back since. The biggest issue I've faced is trying to access Korean websites using safari. Now that I can run windows from a vm, this is no longer a problem.

If you do get a macbook, I would strongly suggest investing in a palm guard since the plastic in that area is very flimsy. Try googling "macbook crack" or "crackbook" for details.

I switched (Macbook Pro) and used Windows for about 6 months with OSX before deciding that Windows in worthless unless you are playing games or need it for work. Safari 3 is good, but Firefox is more compatible with websites. Still, you can use either or both.

Really, I would just tell you not to upgrade the RAM at purchase. Put in your own RAM, as the Apple RAM is a complete rip off.

Potential pitfalls?

Well, you might end up with a Mac for starters, and the salesman will also require you to down some Kool aid.

This assessment sounds a bit biased. Anyone who asserts their maturity and rises above all the kiddie mac vs pc nonsense will see that OS X is a solid operating system.

I agree about the RAM--don't buy it from Apple. However, I haven't been in Korea long enough to know a good place to buy it. Suggestions?

Think different: think defensive.

I just recently made the switch from using a Windows PC over to Linux. I have played around with my friend MacBook running OS X (Tiger?) and thought it was a great to use. It took me a little while to get used to, but once I was famaliar with it had no issues using things. I find sometimes finding software can be tricky sometimes.

Man...Coke vs. Pepsi...there are countless arguments on both sides. You seem to be the type of idiot who enjoys beating dead horses.

Grow up and don't take your Mac so seriously that it makes you look like a twit. Its not an ideology, its a computer.

Been a long time since I used a mac actually.

The mouse only has one button right? How do they get around that?

With all respect you were the only person to get childish here, that and the butt plug comment. I know some Mac heads are fanboys but I don't see any of that on here.

Only disavantage I can see is if you like playing games. Blizzard and some others are released on both OS's and for others there's bootcamp. Still a PC is less bother in this regard and tend to have better gaming specs, especially in the graphics arena. Otherwise go knock yourself out. I'd like a Mac myself, I like the design, but I don't want the cost or bother. And I like games too much.

Bought my girl a Macbook recently. She loves it. Although, I see her tendencies to becoming a Mac snob Laughing . I'm a little envious of her laptop vs. my PC laptop, but hey, I'm set in my Microsoft ways I guess.
